Unforgettable….

DTGD16aislinnshannara Lori Craig

Just popping in with a sweet Dare to Get Dirty card that I made yesterday for Tabbatha’s challenge! I used Adorable Elephants from MFT colored with Copic Marker and Dainty Flower dies from Paper Smooches! I love how well these went together. The black frame is a Pinking Edge Square Die-namics cut from MFT! (I received these as a gift at a retreat I went to back in the winter! Super cute!)

I am organizing watercolor supplies today in anticipation of a new class I’m taking with the awesome Michelle Wooderson soon. I’m really looking forward to building on the things I learned in last winter’s watercolor class that I took! Anyone want to join me?

Have a GREAT day, friends!

Be A Good One

I knew I wanted to make a sample for Lori’s Hope You Can Cling To challenge! I’ve had the pleasure of meeting her at several events over the years, and she’s so sweet! Love that she helps us so much at Splitcoast, too!

I used watercolor paper and Stampin’ Up! ink refills to wash the background of the tag, and then paired it with a sentiment from the Sparkly Dreams set by Verve and a fun Dainty Flower from Paper Smooches.

I’ll be sharing the cards I’ve made so far for Hope You Can Cling To with the cancer center this week. (That’s the power of the entire project!) I know the patients who end up using these blank cards to send thanks, appreciation or special greetings to their own loved ones are grateful for these small gifts. These cards allow them to be a blessing to someone special in their own life…and I know for me, helping someone else always lifts my own spirit when I’m facing a dark time.

This was a quick card that I made for Misti’s challenge, Show Me Your Scars. The snowman is from Stampendous. I got it a few years ago… Such a cute little guy! He is colored with Copic Markers.

Still plenty of month left to participate with us in Hope You Can Cling To – thousands of dollars in prizes up for grabs from our FABULOUS sponsors. Come stamp something and share HOPE!

What fun I had coloring this little guy for Kathy’s Hope You Can Cling To challenge. Paper Smooches Cuteasaurus stamp made working with her concept a snap!

We are about mid-way through the month of challenges at Splitcoast, and there are over $5,000 in prizes from incredible sponsors up for grabs… I hope you find time to join us in this awesome awareness campaign. I know the recipients of these cards are always touched!

I’m also getting ready for my last Copic coloring class of the 2014 year, next month in Indy. We have several locations left, so check out the schedule and see if you might be able to join us. We’d love to see you!

Blessed Acorn (and Copic Class news!)

dtgd001

Here’s a card that mixes two beautiful mediums… I stamped the acorn on watercolor paper, applied Copic Markers with small dots and dabs to create shadow and depth and followed that up with a water color wash using Distress Markers. Very fun…

Tip: Always apply your Copic Marker work first to avoid damage to your marker nibs. Then apply other mediums over the top of that work.

I am heading to Virginia tomorrow for a set of certification classes! Looking forward to meeting more people who are crazy about coloring as I am. 🙂 Really looking forward visiting a friend in the area, too! 😉

You can see our full Copic class calendar here. If we are coming to a location near you, and you have any interest in taking classes with one of our instructors, please don’t pass up the opportunity!  We are working on our curriculum for 2015, and it is that it’s going to be a very exciting year with new locations! Hope to see you soon!

Nine Lives… Purrr-fect

Things seem to be coming along here in the midwest. My Bradford Pear trees are in bloom and run mornings are definitely warmer. We’ve been enjoying our early days of spring! But, it’s a busy, busy time, and there are certainly times the last few weeks when I feel like I have lived nine lives. LOL…

This is a sweet kitty is an image that I colored from the Nine Lives set from Paper Smooches back at CHA in the winter.

There are a lot of open Copic classes right now, including Standard and Intermediate Certifications THIS WEEKEND in Toronto and Indianapolis. Still time to sign up for either of these if you are in the area. You can find full details and sign up info here.

Last weekend, I was in Atlanta for fabulous Standard and Intermediate classes, and I thought I’d share this fun photo of Colleen and I. A few of our students from Splitcoast brought in these fun helmets to wear. The signs on the front of the helmet say, ‘beware of flying Copics’. What a crazy group of fun girls!

I’m off to grab a bite of lunch, color something and pack a bag. Back soon.

so blessed

Popping by with a quick little hello from Paper Smooches! I loved this set, Spiritual Sampler from their new release. I know I’ll use it over and over again for quick and easy cards to send to friend. The label and doily die are both from MFT.

I had such a good time visiting with the Paper Smooches team at CHA. Karolyn Loncon, SWEET Carole Burrage, me, Miss Kim Hughes and Kim Kesti!

Always good to hug your paper-crafty friends! So blessed.

We’re in all-out Valentine mode here at the Craig house. We’ll be cutting and pasting up a storm tonight. Note to self: hide the glitter before school is out. Love getting the craft on with my 10 year old. She’s so fun! I’ll try to remember to take pictures!

Have a great night!

Bee Mine. Hot Stuff.

I played in the Virtual Stamp Night challenges at Splitcoast this past Friday (it was a mini event with the main gig coming up on March 1st and 2nd! so clear your calendar!). I made 5 or 6 cards that I’ll share this week. This one in non-traditional Valentine colors was one of my favorites!

Bee Mine from Paper Smooches was perfect for the Feelin’ a Little Punny challenge. I paper pieced the Bee and eyes, added a small ticket strip and fishtail banner dies (MFT die-namics) with My Mind’s Eye paper. Easy.

In other news, I’m still running. Had a beautiful 34 degree run this morning with my running girls. We’ve been struggling with lots of extra cold temps, odd schedules & trips and high winds the last month, so this felt normal. content. wonderful.

This morning, I peeled my gloves and ear covering and unzipped my hoodie by the start of mile three, but that’s fine. People always say to dress in layers so you can peel off as needed, but last Friday (FOURTEEN degree Friday), was a different story. I wore this hoodie type thing that my husband got in his stocking, thinking I was pretty hot stuff for remembering that this hunting gadget might be good for keeping my head and neck warm while running in cold weather. Hot stuff, alright! I was way too hot, and along about mile two, I couldn’t get the thing off of my head. I’m sure it was a hysterical sight. Fourteen blistering degrees, people driving by thinking we’re nuts for being outside, me fighting with a hoodie that I can’t slide off my head – the whole time thinking I’m going to have a heat stroke. I survived, and that’s about all I can say about that.

Here’s hoping we’re past the last 14 degree mornings around here.

See you soon, hot stuff!

Bee MINE!

In the flurry of Christmas crafting this past weekend, I had to sneak in a fun card made with brand-new Paper Smooches stamps, from the set BEE MINE. It released on Saturday at Paper Smooches, so you can have it too! Kim knew I would love it because her Birds & Bees set from CHF way-back-when has always been a favorite of mine! Thank you, Kim!!

I made this for a Virtual Stamp Night challenge using the theme of friendship. I love these little bees! My bees are stamped on kraft cardstock and colored with Spica Glitter pens. Easy, I know. Little cloud die-cut is from a page of Simple Stories Snap! Sticker Icons. The kraft label and mat was cut with Rounded Scallop Frame from Verve.

I’m going to try very hard to get my cards out in today’s mail and finish up my shopping – I’m almost done…

Happy Monday!

Paper Smooches Winner & a photo tip

WOW! Thanks for all of the sweet comments and thoughtful deeds to share with your friends who are under the weather. Some of you had great ideas, and I loved reading your comments!

I do have a winner for the Healthy Vibes stamp set from Paper Smooches. Congrats to Miss Jenny Peterson:

Oh Gosh- depends on what they’ve got;) If its contageous, I stay away til they are better and then a nice coffee date is in order;) I like to take a meal over if I can- I know as a busy mom, that is much appreciated! and cards are nice too!! Thanks for the chance to win!
p.s. as an RN, I love the little bear with the nurses cap!! Super cute card:)

I’m in the midst of purging and clearing out here in my office. I think tomorrow’s going to be a stampy kind of day, so I’ll see if I can have a card to share tomorrow or Thursday. I did, however, want to share an idea that I saw on .

I think of Pinterest as the magazine of inspiration that shows up on my computer every single morning. I’ve found some fabulous recipes and ideas for crafts to make, many I’ve tried in the last few months, like the Best Baked Chicken Parmesan Ever, delish, cheap and easy Slow Cooker Marinara and primitive nativity.

I’m always trying to improve my photography skills, and I’ve pinned lots of blog posts and tutorials in a Taking Pretty Pictures board. This post was one that I tried half-way, and it did help me get a cleaner picture of my Paper Smooches card. I’m going to keep pinning and keep reading, but I figure I’m not the only one who wants to learn more, and I thought I’d pass along the tip. I just maneuvered the box with the foil covering until it was reflecting light back into the shadows of my card before I snapped the picture.
