Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff

Here’s a quick card that I put together several weeks ago. Love Helga the Hot Chick from Stamping Bella. LOL.

She’s colored with Copic Marker, using the tips to texture, rather than blend smooth. Very fun to color.

The Copic team is introducing several different classes in 2014:

People Who Love to Eat

We’re getting ready for Halloween night here at the Craig house, and there are a few people here who LOVE to eat…candy. To me…they are the best people! My daughters cannot wait for tonight. We have a busy trick-or-treater street, so we’ll see lots of family friends. It’s a good time.

Michele and I were chatting about some new Stamping Bella images that we both ordered from the last (killer) release that Emily had in September, and we thought it would be fun to share a really cute one… Chanel  the Chef! So we are each sharing a Chanel card today. You can see Michele’s card here.

I colored Chanel with Copic Markers while I was watching a Texas Tech football game, and I made a quick card this morning for Jennifer’s sweet Hope You Can Cling To challenge, Put on Your Brave Girl Boots. I paired my image with Doodlebug Paper and a few Doodlebug Sprinkles.

We are in the last day of cancer awareness challenges for Hope You Can Cling To at Splitcoaststampers, but you still have until midnight on November 7th to finish your cards and upload them to be eligible for prizes. I hope you’ll carve out a few minutes over the next week to participate with us, if you haven’t already. The MD Anderson Center sure loves working with us!

I can’t wait to see Michele’s card. It will be super cute! I hope you’ll check it out!

Life is GOOD

This is a card that I made for my oldest daughter. I’m so proud of the young adult that she is becoming. I stamped and colored directly on a pieces of patterned paper for this one, so little to no blending with my Copic Markers. In fact, I didn’t keep the list of markers this time, but I’m confident that the only colors I used here were R35, YG17, BG11, E00, E31 and Y32. Easy.

The image is from Stamping Bella – one of the DUDA girls. Isn’t she fun? I’ve also ordered finished art {this one} from Diane Duda at her etsy store, Duda Daze. Really happy with it. I have it in my office. So cute!

Sunshine! Therapy!

Every now and again, I stamp for fun. This week I was chatting with Michele, and I said, ‘let’s do one of those one-on-one challenges like we used to do in the olden days.’ Meaning, let’s pick a stamp and show it two ways, just for fun. We chose Sunny is Stylish from Stamping Bella.

I immediately paired my image with a piece of pattern paper from my scrap pile and set to coloring. Ah…coloring therapy in the midst of a hectic week of mid-summer dentist appointments, eye appointments, birthday parties, work.

After I colored my image, I pulled out my Blueprints from MFT, and my card came together oh-so-quickly. My favorite kind of card! I am loving the Blueprint concept with a full set of dies that help you create a complete card.

I can’t wait to see Michele’s card. I know it will be beautiful!

Ramona & her Teddy Sail Away

It’s Day Three of the Splitcoast Member Company LoveFest, and today we are celebrating Stamping Bella! You can find her challenge for the day HERE! Keep in mind, we’ll have a lot of prizes at the end of LoveFest, and you are invited to play even if you do not have any of the sponsor company’s stamps or tools. So, don’t be shy! Take a peek and meet a new friend!

I have enjoyed a lot of Stamping Bella stamps over the years, but her Ramona line is my favorite.  I have a redhead 10 year old in this house, and these images and Ramona’s adventures always make me grin!

My image is stamped on Xpress It Blending Card and colored with Copic Markers.  After the image was colored, I cut a mask from thin copy paper of the exact image and a few little cloud shaped die cuts and airbrushed around with my favorite sky color: BG000. I topped it off with some more die cut clouds cut from vellum and covered with glitter – just so I could play Em’s challenge! <wink> 

A note about the airbrush system: I use the Sparmax Air Compressor from Copic. I really enjoy this system because I’ve never had trouble with even air flow, and most importantly it’s so quiet. That said, to air brush with your Copic markers, you can use any air compressor that will regulate to 40-60PSI. If you purchase or already have a smaller air compressor, you just need an ABS3 set up for the actual gun and nozzle. And, if you are looking for a complete system that is a bit more portable, you might like the Airbrush Starting Kit – ABS1 .

We have another full weekend here at the Craig house…church activities and basketball action will keep us busy today. I’m hoping for a few more minutes tucked into my stamping chair, and that’s my wish for you, too! Happy Saturday!

In a JiFFy: Dropping You a Line

You probably thought I was never coming back! I couldn’t do that!! This summer has had a way of getting away from me, but today it’s JiFFy Girl Day, and I can’t resist the JiFFy Girls! This specific challenge post has been a long time in the making. I can’t even remember when we first discussed it, but the whole key was no stress, so… it’s all good.

In case you’ve forgotten, or in case you are a new visitor, the JiFFy Challenge is Just for Fun! Someone (in this case me!) picks an image and someone else (Michele Boyer) picks a patterned paper, and we see what everyone comes up with!

I chose Ramona Fishing from Stamping Bella for this month’s image. The precocious little girl reminds me so much of my own 10 year old, and there are plenty of times that we actually call my darling daughter, Ramona!  Michele chose this darling Hide and Seek paper from the October Afternoon Sidewalks line. It was a great match, in my book!

My Ramona is colored with Copic Markers, and then I cut a second image to use as a mask. I laid my mask over the Ramona image and airbrushed a background, grass and water with my airbrush system. I really do love the Windstorm air compressor. It’s consistent with an even pattern, easy to use, small enough to fit in my desk drawer for easy access and quiet.

It’s been so long since we JiFFy Challenged. I’m excited to see what the other girls end up with. Hope you’ll check them out:

Would You Like Some Pie?

Miss Emily at Stamping Bella was the sponsor for this week’s sketch at CPS. Miss Lulu here has been in my stash uninked forevah. Sad, but true.

Last Wednesday, I took an hour in the afternoon to just color, and I really should do that more often. I love these Lulu images.

We’re winding up the weekend and getting the Christmas decorating done. I want the house ready for a get-together next weekend. We’ll be watching It’s a Wonderful Life and drinking cocoa this afternoon if you want to stop by and help! Hugs!

u hold my {heart}

I’m back today with a card that is Just for Fun! Every so often, I get together with my JiFFy friends, Michele, Carole, Julie and Alli (and sometimes a guest – this month, my fabulous friend, Sherrie!) for a fun little post where someone has picked a pattered paper, and someone has picked a stamp image. It all gets secretly shuffled across North America, and when the stars align, we all post a card on the same day.

I always love this challenge because sometimes the papers don’t really match the image (or so you think at first glance!), and it … well, challenges me. But, I always try to play by the rules: JiFFy paper and coordinating solids, only. It just so happens that this month, I already had my images from Michele (Stamping Bella’s Little Peep’s Heart), and then the very same day I received my paper from Alli, I received the new Brighton catalog in the mail.

Look at the cover of this catalog. Tell me that this turquoise blue hearted card wasn’t meant to be!

My little peep image was colored with Copics (BG000, BG10, E31, YR30 & YR31) and then paper pieced with the patterned paper. My card is put together with several dies from MFT (Double Scallop Border and Notched Tag Die & Stamp Set). I loved the sentiment and little bitty heart die that says, ‘u hold my {heart}’. I did cut the notch off of the top of the tag. It’s all stitched up and tied with seam ribbon that was dyed with a Copic marker (most likely BG75 – it was a gift from my dear friend, Sharon, and I’m about 95% sure of the color: BG75!)

I’m going to do a little blog hopping and see what the other girls came up. That’s always the best part of the challenge, IMO! I hope you have time to check them out:

I’m planning a follow up post to my fabulous birthday yesterday. So many sweet wishes and beautiful cards. I was overwhelmed! I’ve got a few deadlines this week, so it might be a week or so before I get back to that. It was such a special day for me, so I didn’t want to skip over and not mention it here this morning. I’m blessed beyond measure. 🙂

The JiFFy Card that wasn’t so JiFFY.

Every month I have a little challenge with a few girlfriends: Michele Boyer, Carole Burrage,  Julie Campbell, Kim Hughes, Alli Miles and usually a guest, this month, my stamping crush, the fabulous Amy Rohl. It’s called the Just for Fun challenge – where one person picks an image and one person selects a paper, and we each see what we come up with. We call it the JiFFy challenge.

This month, Michele was the image picker and chose this darling Stamping Bella image, Miss Zoe. I actually chose my very favorite piece of patterned paper from the entire CHA collections, Luminous from the Moonrise Collection at SEI. It should have been easy~peasy, right? I’ll spare you the ugly craft room drama.

At any rate, here is Miss Zoe, the Hearty Mug Girl colored with Copic. I paired her with a sentiment from Taylored Expressions, A Year of Sweet Sentiments.

I now have about 6 half made cards with this paper sitting on my desk, so I’ll be finishing them up and showing you how many different looks you can get with one piece of patterned paper. 😉

It’s JiFFy time

I can’t believe we’re not even to the 20th of the month and all of the JiFFy girls are ready to post. Just For Fun, we rotate an image picker and a paper picker to see what we will work with for the current month. It’s always fun to see the different perspective. You can see what each of the girls came up with by checking out Alli Miles, Carole Burrage, Julie Campbell, Kim Hughes, Michele Boyer and Me!

This month, Alli sent us this darling patterned paper, Lil Miss Muffet from MME. Then, totally separate, Michele chose this darling little Izzie has a Daisy from Stamping Bella. I had already ordered this cutie when Michele told us what she had chosen, so I was ready to roll. Loved the choices this month!

I colored my Izzie image with Copics – I found the RV14, RV17 and RV19 color combo to work well for Izzie’s skirt. I used the darkest of the 3 to give her a headband. My sentiment is the Feel Better Soon ‘plain jane’ from Verve.

Copic news? I have some. I’ll be in Indianapolis this weekend. The Copic Certification class is FULL, and I’m super-excited that Beate is coming to assist me in the class. I know we’ll have a great time!

I’ve also added a Bloomington, IL certification class to my calendar on Friday, June 11, 2010. I’ll be doing a consumer class at The Keepsake Element while I’m in town, so I know that will be extra fun!  If you want info on the Bloomington Certification class, make sure you are signed up on Marianne’s blog for updates and applications when a class is  scheduled near you. You sign  up by clicking the green box on the right hand column of her blog.  Other Certification Classes opened for registration today in  Birmingham, Anchorage, Charleston, WV and Las Vegas!
