Still Fest*ing

Still Love Fest*ing at Splitcoaststampers to celebrate our Member Companies. I can’t believe I’ve kept up from the beginning, and I’m 10 for 10 with just one day to go. 🙂

This was my card to celebrate Unity Stamp Company’s color challenge on
Thursday. I have quite a few Unity Stamps in my collection, but I love these boots from the Brave Girl Boots set. Fun and easy to use, I paired them with the Victorian Background Stamp.

Friday’s challenge from Taylored Expressions actually pushed me a little bit. A 3″ canvas is kind of small! LOL…but I liked how these little encouraging notes turned out. I used the tiniest bike from the Bikes & Trikes set with some Fabulous papers from Simple Stories.

I’m off to watch a little middle school girls basketball, but I’ll be back tomorrow to finish up the Love Fest Challenges. If you’d like to play, you can find them all here – in one spot. You have until 2/28 to complete any or all of them, and you do NOT have to use sponsor company product to participate. 🙂

Happy Saturday!

Hope You Can Cling To – all month long

It’s time for Hope You Can Cling To… We’ve been working for months at Splitcoaststampers on the details for our THIRD annual Hope You Can Cling To campaign for cancer awareness.

Lydia is hosting the first challenge this morning.  I had a sigh of sweet relief when I read her challenge. I think you’ll find it just as comforting and fun as I did.

We have 32 more challenges to bring you over the next month. Hope you can find one, two or twelve that strike your creative chord.  Tons of fun (and prizes) up for grabs this month. Join us!

Be back soon!

  • Ink: Poppy Brilliance Tsukineko
  • Cardstock: Tangerine – My Mind’s Eye and Kraft
  • Accs: pearls, whimsy buttons, buttons, flowers, twine

dream. Big.

The Product Focus review team at Splitcoaststampers published a review on Nestabilities Card Creator dies from Spellbinders this morning. I had a chance to play with the dies, and I loved how they are sized proportionately for A2 sized cards (5 .5″ x 4.25″). It is super easy to cut your different elements without measuring or cutter. You can read the full review here.

I used a stamp from Unity that had been in my stash for a while…dream. Big. The Victorian Background (Unity) is stamped in Vintage Cream ink on kraft, and when that was really good and dry, I stamped the butterfly image with Chocolate Chip Craft ink and embossed it with detail clear embossing powder. The rest of the card came together very quickly thanks to the sizing and perfect layers of the Card Creator dies.

This card and a few others that I’ve worked on over the last week are going in my stash for sweet college freshman in my world who’ve left the home nest the last few weeks. Even if you don’t have any special college kids in your life right this minute, say a prayer for them, will you? It’s an exciting time, but filled with a lot of emotion for both the kids and their families.

Have a great day, and thanks for stopping by!

DING! DING! & fun stuff for the Fourth!

Here’s a quick card from my Virtual Stamp Night frenzy a few weeks ago. The challenge was Getting There – and showing a form of transportation. Love the Joy Ride bicycles from Hero Arts.  Sentiment is from Unity Stamp Company.

And, I’m not too proud to tell you that I recycled the layout from a previous card… I do that from time to time. If I come up with a layout that I like, I’ll make several bases and keep them in a little bin at my desk. When I need a card for a specific purpose at the last minute (how I usually roll – card at the last minute), I’ll grab one of these bases and make a  new central image. Easy-Peasy.

You’re My Cup of Tea – The challenge on this VSN card was Pack Your Bag. I searched high and low for a bag stamp…odd since I’m kind of a bag junkie. This was the best I could do. Again, stamps from Unity Stamp Company – a kit of the month from my collection. 🙂

And, this one…The challenge for this card was Journey Through the Ages…basically, you were to pick an era. This one was easy peasy with no-stamping. I like that from time-to-time. All of the papers and sticker elements are from Simple Stories. I love that line…I buy mine from Taylored Expressions.

Going for the last visit to the orthopedic’s office with my daughter and her broken arm, ironically (considering the first card in this post) from a bike accident back in April. Looking forward to getting the ‘all clear’ for her. 🙂 Then, I’ll be getting ready for a fun Fourth with friends tomorrow! It’s so hot and dry here in Missouri that fireworks have been banned in our county, but lucky for us we have some favorite traditions that don’t involve fireworks. Here are a few favorite photos from last year’s neighborhood parade to put you in the spirit.

Everyone wears a silly hat or rides their own ‘float’ or carries a fun trinket. My youngest daughter usually rides her bike or the 4-wheeler in the parade, and last year my mom and dad carried ‘Uncle Sam on a Stick’ (windsock & PVC pipe). Cute and easy.

Hubby and I in silly hats because that’s just about as ‘costume’ as I get.

Yummy themed snacks… You can find the recipe for these yummy Edible Eagles right here.

One of my running girlfriends has a Firecracker Baby! Her daughter turned 16 last year, so she brought this beauty to our parade. Isn’t that pretty?

I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s photo-ops celebrations. Hope you have a wonderful Fourth! See you soon!

{thank you}

I can’t imagine why I didn’t share this card last month. It’s one of my favorites of the last few months. I created it for a CPS Sketch Challenge. Love sketches for inspiration!

Unity Stamp Co was the sponsor this particular week. I really like how so many of their sets and pieces of sets are interchangeable! I’m mailing this particular card to someone who did something extraordinarily sweet for me. I hope it brings a smile.

I’m working on a few more submissions for Hope You Can Cling To today! Have you been able to make anything crafty lately?

  • Stamps: Penny for your Thoughts and Assorted Styles – Unity Stamp Company
  • Cardstock: Ivory and Stella Rose – My Mind’s Eye

Sweet Summer Memories

We have some memory making fun going on around here, and I thought I’d thrown in a short and sweet post with my offering for the CPS Sketch this week.

The sketch was sponsored by Clearsnap, and their new Mix’d Media inks that were released at CHA. I’ve used Truffle and Honey. LOVE that Honey ink pad. With it’s easy to hold circular, flexible pad shape and beautiful opaque cream colored cover, I know I’ll reach for it a lot.

Lots of good things going on around here, so I’ll be back soon. Had time to stamp last night for the Splitcoaststampers’ Fan Club challenge week ~ Dare to Get Dirty! Love all of the fabulous dirty girl challenges. This card is for Julie Lacey’s KRAFT challenge. (A tough one for me, I know!! LOL!)  I know I’ll be sharing a few this week. If you are a Splitcoast Fan Club member, check it out. If you want to be a part of the fun, more Fan Club info can be found here.

One last thing ~ Jenn Balcer and I will be in NYC for a Standard Copic Certification next Sunday, August 7th in Manhattan. We’ll be in Oklahoma City on Friday, August 26th. We’d love to have anyone in those areas join us. Copic is still accepting applications for both classes. You can find more info on registration here.

I’m off to make some Sweet Summer Memories with my girls! Have a beautiful Sunday

together we can do so much

Here is a fun project I made for a VSN challenge last month. I had to use at least 3 elements that started with the letter ‘R’ ~ Roses, Rhinestones, Ribbon and Recycled paper – that’s 4! 🙂 Love how this turned out.

I {heart} VSN challenges. There’s a scrapbooking event (VSBN) coming up this weekend with lots of fun in store. I need to get a few pages done. My girls love looking through scrapbooks. 🙂 You can get the details here.

  • • Ink: Pink and French Roast – aMuse
  • • Cardstock: Stella Rose – My Mind’s Eye, Kraft, recycled page from an old botany book.

Just Because

Just because, I loved this Joy Ride set from Hero Arts. I remember the summer between 6th and 7th grade I babysat for a foster mom with custody of 2 precious little boys while she worked 2nd shift as an RN at the local hospital. I saved all of my money that summer to buy a Schwinn 10-speed bike. At 75 cents per hour, it took a long time to save $127. I loved that bike for the places it would take me, but mostly I loved that I paid for it myself.

I had the sentiment circle on my desk as I was putting this card together, and I realized it was just about the same size as the larger wheel of the bike, so I replaced the wheel. Beautiful sentiments in this set from JustRite, You’re So Sweet.

Have a great day!

Once Junked JiFFY & I’m Feelin’ SWEET

Still here, and I’ve even been crafty! I had this sparkly strawberry on my desk, leftover from my March JiFFy post. I couldn’t let it go to waste! Plus,  my friends at Unity are celebrating THREE FABULOUS years this week. It seemed like a great day to post! Happy Birthday, Unity!

This strawberry is so sparkly. It looks so sweet.

Sweet. It’s how I’ve been feeling lately, and that’s a good thing. I’ve mentioned several times that I took up running late last spring. After several declined invites to run with a great group of lean, mean and dedicated ladies here in town, I finally accepted last week, and I’ve ran with them 3 times so far. I could cry telling you how good it felt to finally run 4 miles (FOUR MILES!) without stopping to walk! Actually, I could cry from how tired my lungs felt during and after. It hasn’t been perfect any of the 3 runs, but even the first morning, I left our local Y and finished with them. ME!

I’ll be honest. They’ve been asking me to join them for months, and last week my running plans fell apart at the last minute and there they were, sweetly encouraging me again. What if I can’t keep up with them? What if I have to walk? What if they leave me eating dust? What if I hold them back? (That was actually my biggest fear! – I don’t want anyone to hold up or not get a needed workout because of me!) But, I was at a point where I needed to be pushed. I needed to go further, and I needed consistent accountability. Saying a praise today for constantly having people come into my life with the right encouragement, at the right time. I am blessed.

If you want something you’ve never had, you have to do something you’ve never done. I’ve never been more certain of these words than I am right now.

I’ve got more crafty remnants from the weekend on my desk. See you tomorrow!

JiFFy Girls are BACK: Sweetest Day Ever

My Just For Fun challenge friends are back in action after a long winter’s nap. We call ourselves the JiFFy Girls! Michele Boyer,  sweet Carole Burrage, Alli Miles, Julie Campbell (who has the sweetest of paper crafty announcements on her blog today! CONGRATULATIONS, JULIE! LOVE YOU!) and myself with a special guest this month, the fabulous Cammie King! Each time we play, one of us picks an image – this month it was Julie who picked this little number, Sweetest Day from Unity Stamp Company, and one of us picks some patterned paper – this month Carole sent us darling Madison Plaid from the new Little Girls line by Echo Park. It’s kind of secretive and totally random, so some months are a little rough. I mean, can you imaging getting this darling stamp and some cowboy patterned paper? The girls did good this month!

My strawberry is colored very simply with smooth circles and Copic Marker. The berry is a flat RV29 and the stem is YG23. That’s it!

So, on my tag, I used the sweetest tag dies made by Spellbinders for JustRite Stampers in the Happy Everything kit (seriously stamps, dies and stamp block in one kit – happy everything). The bright pink frame on the tag is actually the die cut shape. The white sentiment nests inside that frame, as opposed to layering on top of a solid tag that same shape. I love that. I highlighted sweetest with an R20 marker and punctuated with a pearl that was colored with RV29.

I always love seeing what the JiFFy Girls do with these challenges. I hope you have a few minutes to check out their posts. They are always inspiring. Here are the links for you one more time: Michele Boyer,  sweet Carole Burrage, Julie Campbell, Alli Miles and special guest this month, Cammie King.

I’ll be back tomorrow with something fun! Have a great day!
