Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing

One of my favorite hymns…

I put this together for one of the Hope You Can Cling To challenges at Splitcoast. I used Chalkboard Hymns from Our Daily Bread Designs, KneeHighs paper from Basic Grey and a piece of sheet music from my salvaged hymnal.

May your month be full of blessings ~ xoxo

Divine Design: Let your light shine…

september-2009.jpg

You are the light of the world. Let your light shine out for all to see! ~ Matthew 5:14-16

Every month on the 9th, I try to share a project inspired by Scripture for a challenge at Splitcoaststampers called Divine Design.  All are welcome to participate. The only requirement is that your project contain a Bible verse. Most often I choose 6×6 cards that I display on a wooden stand in my stamp room.

I picked up a new Bible study book the other day called Annointed, Transformed, Redeemed, a Study of David.  It will be the fall women’s study at my church. As I leafed through the early pages, this verse jumped out from Matthew. “Let your light shine out for all to see!”

This lamp that hangs in my kitchen was an inspiration piece for the layout of the project. I can see this lamp from my workdesk, and I love to look at it even though it might not necessarily fit in with the rest of my kitchen. You know what? Even when it doesn’t fit, it’s light still shines. It lights meals and laughter, homework and bill paying, magazine browsing and Bible studying, friendship gatherings and long, lost sock matching. My family sits under this lamp in sad times and good times and all those in between. I pray we’re like this lamp, even with it’s off-center glass chimney. No matter the circumstance, I hope we still shine for Him.

If you missed my post last night, here’s a reminder to check out the Scripture Chicks Angel Wilde, Jami Bova, Nancy Morgan and Taylor VanBruggen. I {adore} these girls.

Psalm 138:3 – You encourage me…

This is the card that has been all around America this summer. I made this card the morning before I left for CHA, thinking I would post while I was gone. (Hmm, there is never enough time for sleep on those trips, so why I thought I would blog all week was beyond me.) I did, however, get Beate to take a picture of it for me off the balcony of our condo, then I politely packed it back up and brought it home. Last weekend, I carried it on a mini-vacation to Branson thinking again that I would post while I was gone. With computer woes and roller coasters abound…I still didn’t post. Finally, I’ve unpacked all my summer bags (mostly) and caught up on my long ole to-do list and here is my card for Taylor’s Sketch 76.

I used the anniversary Scripture Collection from Our Daily Bread Designs to make quick work of this card. I needed a sympathy card, and that set is perfect for those.  Kelley Holland, the Our Daily Bread Designs owner was the first person I saw at CHA – walking down the corridor. We hugged quickly, said hey! and didn’t take a picture because we agreed our paths would cross again that week. Sadly, it didn’t happen. I appreciate Kelley for the effort and energy that she puts into beautiful Scripture sentiment stamps every single month. She fills a definitely needed niche in the stamp world! Thank you, Kelley!

We’re off to a swim team fundraiser this morning. Should be a good time, and hopefully, profitable. 🙂 Enjoy your Saturday!

Divine Design: God Bless the USA

He has made everything beautiful in it’s time. ~ Ecc. 3:11

It’s Divine Design time, and I’m finally ahead of the game. Long time coming, I know. 🙂 I planned my verse and 6×6 page this month as a celebration of the country I love and my family’s favorite summer holiday, here in Midwest USA, the Fourth of July. You can see other Divine Design (scripture inspired projects) by visiting Angel Wilde, Jami Bova, Nancy Morgan and my moving-back-to-the-midwest friend, Taylor VanBruggen.  😉 I always look forward to seeing their beautiful work.

I have relocated every 3-5 years of my life, all my life. I’ve lived in the north, the midwest, Texas and the deep south.  I’ve never lived in an ugly part of our country, and actually, I’m not sure an ugly part exists. I love the Flint Hills of Kansas, the lakes of Minnesota, the tall pines of Georgia and the Caprock in Texas.  I love it all. Do I sound like Lee Greenwood? Does anyone even know who he is? At any rate, I’m grateful to live here in the beautiful United States of America.

The scripture is from one of the anniversary sets at Our Daily Bread Designs.  All of the die-cut images are Sizzix (Decorative Label Set, Hello Kitty Flower Bouquet and Hello Kitty Ribbons). I ran the smaller die-cut pieces thru my Xyron and then dipped into glitter. Patterned paper is WeRMemory Keepers. Rhinestone bling is from KaiserCraft, available at eP.

Thanks for stopping by.

When I pray you answer me, YOU encourage me by giving me the strength I need.  ~ Psalm 138:3

I was really proud of Our Daily Bread for asking their amazing design team submit favorite verses for 2 special Scripture sets.  I ordered both sets, and I chose to use Psalm 138:3 this month for Divine Design. This beautiful scripture had been submitted by my friend Angel, Divine Design co-hostess this year. Isn’t that a beautiful promise to meditate on? Angel, thank you for sharing that.

I remember when my oldest daughter was 4 years old, and learned one of her first memory verses for her Sunday School classes. The teacher didn’t attach the reference to their memory work, but the verse was ‘Jesus gives us what we need’. I see this as the grown up rendition of that promise. Pray to Him. He will answer. He will give me the strength I need.

I received this beautiful Memory Box paper from the Butterfield line as a gift, and I knew it would be perfect to add to my hanging album of Scriptures. I had to be careful because I didn’t want to cover up the flight of the butterflies. I enhanced it with Martha Stewart butterfly punches and rhinestones. The verse is stamped on Pink Pirouette cardstock and layered on Willow Dark Prism, cut with Nestabilities Lables 3. One of the swirls from my Unity Kit of the Month is tucked behind the Scripture panel on the upper left.

Thanks for stopping by. Please take minute to look at what other Divine Designers Angel, Jami Bova, and Taylor VanBruggen have shared today. I know you will be blessed by their artwork and their sharing. I think Nancy will be sharing tomorrow.  If you would like to post your creations and share and Splitcoast, please use keyword BVC09. I’ll see you tomorrow with the Weekend Sketch.
