Thank You Very Much!

Today’s Hope You Can Cling To challenge had me be-bopping weeks ago when I saw the challenge concepts! I’ve had the opportunity to work with a lot of different stamps over the years, and one thing that always makes me smile is digging out my Elvis stamps from my days at Cornish Heritage Farms. (They are now retired, and whenever I use them, I’m asked about where to find. I have no idea or connection, so I’m apologizing now.) This one is still my favorite:  Jumpsuit Elvis.

I went the thank you route because when a family goes through a difficult time, thank you notes are always needed… Since it’s October, I went all pink and paired Elvis with Raspberry Clearsnap ink and KneeHighs paper from Basic Grey. Pretty clean and simple. 🙂

Still plenty of month to join us in our Hope You Can Cling To card drive for the MD Anderson Cancer Center. Have I mentioned that there are over $5,000 in prizes that will be awarded at the end of the month to challenge entries? What are you waiting for? If you need a little help getting started, here’s an FAQ thread from the HYCCT forum. Link me to a few of your entries in the gallery in the comments below. I’d love to see!

I’m on my way to Portland to meet up with the Copic instructor team to discuss 2014 classes and curriculums. It’s going to be a great week. Lots of fun challenges coming up this week, so I’ll definitely pop in and share as the days go by! Have a good one!

Happy Birthday, Elvis!

elvis-close1.jpg

Happy Birthday, Elvis! I told you it was a BIG DAY! I always laugh when I make these cards. I have very few people I can send them, too, but they are so fun! This one is going out to Carole. She’s a big Elvis fanatic and we chatted yesterday about the ‘king of rock n’ roll’. (For those of you following His Holy Name and Divine Design, please don’t misunderstand my use of and concept of ‘king’ – lower case k. 🙂  I’m sure Carole’s got the Elvis bling going on at her site today. Of course, if I know her, it’ll be bold and bright! I love that about Carole! Jenn Balcer has some Elvis action going on, too! I’m sure hers will involve turquoise and rhinestones…bets? Hey it’s a real live birthday party! Whether Elvis is alive or not!

As these last few weeks of summer vacation slither on by, I am lovin’ all the Christmas in July. This is my sweet, handsome Elvis – Blue Christmas from CHF, available now. Do you get the Cornish Heritage Farms newsletter? Liz announced last week that she and I will be at the Elvis Expo in Memphis in just 2 weeks, August 13 & 14! If you’re in the area, please stop by our booth and say hi! We’ll have plenty of beautiful Elvis red rubber, some samples for you to oogle up close and maybe even chocolate. 🙂 I’d love to meet you if you are a Memphis local reader or in town for the big festivities.

Not going to be in Memphis? Well, NO PROBLEM! Visit vicariously! I’ll be hosting an online class at Cornish Heritage Farms on Tuesday, August 12th – LIVE from Memphis, TN. You can read about my free class and sign up HERE! I’m really excited to share this super quick and cute project idea with you. It is smack your forehead easy with a very short supply list, so I hope you’ll hang out with me and create a project. I’m hoping to share some Elvis and Memphis photos with you that night, as well!

Right now, I have one hour before my darling daughters come home from a playdate, and I’m gonna see what I can do with a few pieces of new, red rubber that are laying on my desk. Have a great afternoon!

Elvis is In!

red-elvis-lcraig-062508.jpg

Quick post to let you that a new Elvis is in the building and available today. The Original Elvis…I like working with these images because they are just plain fun…. this is just a plain, ole black and white image that I blinged up with Tim Holtz Grungeboard (covered with black ink and black glitter), Bazzill Bling cardstock and May Arts Red Ribbon.

A quick note about Grungeboard:  These are basically laser die-cuts that are made of a leather-like material. You can dye them, emboss them, distress them, glitter then…they will take a lot of abuse. They are also pretty flexible. You can wrap them around subtle shapes. Lots of fun.

I’m off to fill up water balloons for a hotdog roast and water games party tonight in honor of  my sweet, sweet Ashley. You have to love a child who is totally and completely thrilled with water balloons and hotdogs for her birthday celebration..easy peasy. See you tomorrow!

What could be my last card….

Between the family garage sale, swim meets, getting ready for CHA with my job at Splitcoast and a little weekend trip with the family, I feel like I haven’t stamped or blogged in weeks.

Thursday will bring another Elvis release – this is the ‘Original Elvis’. I like the clean lines of the stamp border. I paired it with some Urban Rhapsody paper from K&Company and one of my favorite finds from Winter CHA, again from Kaiser – the wooden embellishments. I found some for sale this weekend in Branson at Scrapbooks Forever. If you’re travelling to the country music mecca this summer, be sure to stop in. I was surprised to find they totally redesigned their floorplan over the winter. They have so much top selling stuff in stock. Don’t let the name fool you, they have plenty of rubber and ink in the store, too! I had a great time visiting with the owner and staff.

I’m off to the gym. One of my friends has a new position at our YMCA. I have agreed to a 12 week fitness plan. Today is my initial evaluation and first cardio workout. If I am still alive tomorrow, I’ll post another card.  Have a wonderful night!

  • Stamps: the Original Elvis – Cornish Heritage Farms
  • Cardstock: Urban Rhapsody – K&Company, Suede Dark Brown Prism, Cryogen White & StarDream Metallic Lagoon
  • Ink: VersaMagic Chalk – Turquoise
  • Accs: Making Memories In Bloom Brads, Doodlebug Turquoise Mini Brads, Wooden Embellishments – Kaiser

Hunka Burnin’ Love

hunka-hunka-lcraig-052808.jpg

Working with this Elvis is… Backgrounder is like having an entire hip sentiment collection on one backgrounder. I used the words ‘hunka burnin’ love’ and ‘dreamy’ and a marker to accent my shipping tag. Wouldn’t this be cute tied to a pair of flaming boxers for your man on Father’s Day!? Of course, I’m not going to post men’s flaming unders here on my blog, but you can imagine how fun that would be….right?

tag-lcraig-052508.jpg

I started with a regular manilla shipping tag that I ‘rangerized’ using Distress Inks, cut and dry foam and a water mister. Then I overstamped with my new Vintage Ledger Scrapblock (TM) from CHF in Pitch Black Adirondack. These huge hunks (Scrapblocks (TM)) of rubbah (6×6) are being released next week. At 6×6, you are not confined to either portrait or landscape for your card design..either works! Added my Elvis, glitter with a Tsukineko Glue Pad (I use a stamp-a-ma-jig to over-stamp my glue), sentiment stamp and the backgrounder words ‘marked off’ with a black marker and a romantic swirly-do from the Rummage Bin Beautiful set,  heart shaped brads and ribbons.

See you in the morning…

Elvis is….hip swiveling

hip-swiveling-lcraig-052808.jpg

CHF is releasing a fun Elvis backgrounder today. Lots of little sentiments that will make fun vacation cards, postcards, tags and silly cards for pop-culture lovers. For this thank you card, I masked off Elvis and overstamped the whole backgrounder, but then used marker to ‘omit’ the extras and only get ‘hip swiveling’.

girl-tag-lcraig-052808.jpg

For this fun altered tag, I stamped the whole backgrounder over the polka dotted paper in a light blue ink, then used the marker again to ink up ‘Rock & Roll’. Jumpsuit Silhouette is my FAVE of ALL THE ELVIS IMAGES! I love this black and tiffany blue combo. The black rhinestones are from Archivers… 🙂 The Prima bling charm was a gift. 🙂

rock-and-roll-lcraig-052808.jpg

This super simple card uses only the ‘Rock & Roll’ words, too.

Here’s a snapshot of the entire backgrounder…

I’ve got one more fun Elvis project to show you a bit later this morning.  Thanks for stopping by…

Rhinestone Elvis

elvis-birthday-lcraig-052408.jpg

So according to this sweet little girl, Adrianna, I’m the ‘caller ID’ friend…today, I’m the Rhinestone Elvis friend.  I know she’s cooking something up with her Jump-suit Elvis today, and I told her I’d come up with something, too!

I paired Jump-Suit Elvis with a new Elvis backgrounder called, “Elvis is…” (available this Friday) to create a pretty simple CELEBRATE card! What’s Elvis without a few rhinestones? LOL! These black ones are from Mark Richards, and I love the size. I get mine at Archivers.   To glitter Elvis up, I stamped him in black ink, then used a stamp-ma-jig to stamp over with Tsukineko Glue Pad – then covered with Black Martha Stewart Glitter.

So make sure you check out Adri’s cards and give her some love!  Have a great long weekend!

Why not? Win your favorite Elvis….

why-not-elvis-042408-lcraig.jpg

Another new Elvis today from Cornish Heritage Farms. They are fun, especially if you are an Elvis lover, like me! When I was looking at this Elvis Sketch, I was thinking about his earlobe…and thinking…would Elvis have pierced his ear if he would have been around a little later in the 80s or 90s? Now, personally, I don’t care for pierced ears on men, but something tells me ‘he would have done it.’ So, I did it! LOL! I pierced Elvis’ ear! I also used the Paisley Bandana Backgrounder to mask off and put some flowered wallpaper behind his head. Why? Because ‘Why not is a slogan for an interesting life.’ – new sentiment from Mona Lisa – it’s coming next week!

OK – I’m running on about 3 hours sleep, and to make up for the craziness…I’ve got some blog candy, for the first time ever in the history of my blog. 🙂

Up for grabs? TWO winners to each choose their favorite Elvis image in a deeply etched, glorious red rubber on a top quality maple wood block mount from the wonderful folks at Cornish Heritage Farms.   All you have to do is leave me a comment between now and Monday morning, 8:00 CST with your name and your favorite Elvis image from CHF. My favorite is the ‘Jumpsuit Silhouette’, but you can see them all and pick your favorite HERE.

See you tomorrow with a sketch from Beate.
