MFT: Valentine Wishes

MFT-Valentine-Wishes-Lori-Craig

Sharing a cheery MFT Valentine Wishes card today with the Jumbo Fishtail Banner and Be Mine Banner dienamics! My sentiment was stamped in Ranger Embossing Ink and heat embossed with Princess Gold Embossing Powder from Ranger. It’s all set up on pretty pink background stamped with the Marble Background stamp. So fun!

MFT-Always-Lori-Craig

I made this pretty the same day with the Hearts in a Row Horizontal dienamics and the Black and White Stripes paper pack. This card is for a special golden anniversary, so I used X-Press It Glitter Deco Tape in the third window. I love how I can piece two bits of this glitter tape together without a seam to fill up the heart window. The sentiment Today, Tomorrow & Forever from From the Heart is embossed in Princess Gold Embossing Powder on the black banner.

I made these cards a few weeks ago during a fun Saturday crafting with my friend Laurie.. before I had the flu. That’s how I’m gauging most things this month: before and after I had the flu. Mercy. I was down for almost a week, and it is taking a while to bounce back to my normal routines.  I am much better and really hoping none of you have had it. I’m so happy to be back to the things I enjoy most.

Keep the germs at bay, friends! Stay well!

Krafty Christmas and Gift Guide

FF16diniB Lori Craig

This might be my favorite challenge of the Falliday Fest at Splitcoaststampers from our Artist in Residence, Dina Kowal. The challenge was to make a gingerbread themed card using kraft cardstock and white embossing!

This stamp set is called Sweet Christmas – Sunny Day Doodle line from MFT. I’m sure it’s retired, and I can’t part with it, though I can’t remember using it before. I love how this turned out! Easily duplicatable with a MISTI for mass production. Well — thinking about it, I did fussy cut the gingerbread man. Hire a child for that part!

FF16jacqueline Lori Craig

These tags were for Jacqueline’s Falliday Fest challenge – Monogram It! A snowflake stamp and the Flourished Tag Die set from Verve paired up with Sophisticated Script from Concord & 9th made quick work of that challenge! The doily background die is retired from MFT. (I can’t find the packaging and don’t know the name – it is in a set of 4 small doily dies.) I’m going to have the girls help me mass produce these for our family Christmas. Red for the guys and green for girls!

Still a few days left to join the Falliday Fun and play some of the challenges. We do have lots of great prizes up for grabs from our sponsors. We tried something fun and functional this fall and put together our first ever Holiday Gift Guide at Splitcoast – it’s full of special offers and great ideas for holiday shopping for everyone on your list – especially YOU! Take a peek:

SPLITCOASTSTAMPERS HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE!

I’m off to the final marching band competition of the fall season today! My girl sure loves being on the Color Guard, but I’m looking forward to a few Saturdays at home before the busyness of the holidays hits!

Have a beautiful Saturday!

Hard Candy Christmas

I am hosting my second Falliday Fest challenge today at Splitcoast! It’s called Hard Candy Christmas! You can find the details and the backstory here in the forum!

My card was made by stamping the snowflakes with clear embossing ink and clear embossing powder. Next I embossed the sentiment  (retired CHF sentiment set) with Ranger Princess Gold (I LOVE THIS EMBOSSING POWDER!) Then I sponged cantelope and strawberry colored inks over the white cardstock for a resist on the snowflakes. The scalloped notecard is a diecut from Papertrey Ink.

There is still a week left to make and share cards in the Splitcoast gallery for the Falliday Fest. We have thousands of dollars of amazing prizes up for grabs, so I hope you find a few minutes to check it out! Have a beautiful Saturday! Get crafty!

Falliday Feathers

I wanted to share two cards I’ve made for the Falliday Fest at Splitcoaststampers! We’ve partnered with some amazing sponsors for a fun event for October! Still plenty of month left to join us for challenges and inspiration, wonderful card-drive opportunities and prizes!

This was a card that I made for Dina Kowal’s Masquerade challenge. This was a new idea to me, and it was so fun…and easy. I’m definitely going to be trying this technique again! My sentiment came from the Autumn Splendor set from Verve, and the feathers are a die-cut from MFT.

This fun card was for Lydia’s challenge, Start Spreading the News! I used the Give Thanks stamp and die set from Concord and 9th for this one. Love the clean look here. I tied to keep it clean and simple. That is something about Lydia’s style that I really admire: clean and classy!  The woodgrain is an embossing folder from Taylored Expressions.

I’m off to a marching band competition this weekend, but plenty of cards to share in the next few days! Hope you squeeze some crafty into your weekend! Thanks for stopping by!

Unforgettable….

Just popping in with a sweet Dare to Get Dirty card that I made yesterday for Tabbatha’s challenge! I used Adorable Elephants from MFT colored with Copic Marker and Dainty Flower dies from Paper Smooches! I love how well these went together. The black frame is a Pinking Edge Square Die-namics cut from MFT! (I received these as a gift at a retreat I went to back in the winter! Super cute!)

Have a GREAT day, friends!

a life she loved

DM 01 Lori Craig

I’ve been getting ready for a new year of coloring and Copic classes. My friend Kathy Racoosin is hosting a 30-day color challenge, and I felt like there was nothing better to prep for my classes in St. Louis the first weekend in March! If you are in the St. Louis area, come see me!

This is a Taylored Expressions image from the set When Your Heart Speaks. Love.

DM 02 Lori Craig

This is an image that was in a faces and hair class that Copic offered several years ago, and I thought she’d be a great sample in my class portfolio. I colored this for day 2. Braided hair is so fun! Her hair is done with the E30 Copic family. The darker skin complexions are a bit of a challenge for me, and I know practice is the only way I’ll get better – here I used E01 (because I can’t find my E11!!) E13 and E15 for her skin.

DM 03 Lori Craig

This was for day 3. I used a loved stamped set from Taylored Expressions called A Life She Loved. I may end up coloring one more from this set and framing a little tryptic for my crafty office. Coloring glass is something we tackle in our Clothing and Accessories Copic Class.

DM 05 Lori Craig

This little lady from MFT Stamps has been inked on my desk for a few years. I colored her yesterday morning for Day 5. Such a cutie! Her hair is also colored with the E30s family, but her skin is much lighter complexion. I’ve used E51, E21 and E000 (my secret weapon Copic facial concealer!)

DM 06 Lori Craig

My parents are visiting this weekend, but I got up this morning and colored this poppy image from Stampin’ Up! before we get busy with some errands and hanging out… I love a Saturday when I’m busy hanging out! Don’t you!? Coloring Flowers with Copic is a new class that we are offering this year, and I’m looking forward to teaching that in St. Louis, as well!

We’ll see how I hold up on the 30-day challenge. You can find a lot of Copic inspiration using the Instagram #thedailymarker30day! If you aren’t going to be in St. Louis, you can see our full year’s schedule of Copic classes on this page. I hope our paths will cross at some point soon.

I also hope you have a fabulous Saturday…hanging out or otherwise!

Cherish Every Moment

Julie has a fabulous challenge for Hope You Can Cling To today, and I knew this technique would be perfect. The Shade Tree Cutting Plate die and sweet Cherish Every Moment sentiment are from Taylored Expressions. The Pierced Oval Stax Dienamics are from MFT.

Peace on Earth Copic Canvas

HYCCT1404-blog

We published a Splitcoaststampers Product Focus piece for Spellbinders yesterday showcasing their beautiful collection of winter holiday dies. The team made some beautiful projects for the gallery, and I had time to make a few things, too. This was my favorite piece that I created for that project.

canvas-close1

This came together for me very quickly. The canvas was airbrushed with the Copic Airbrush system – which dries very fast, and then stamped with MFT Music Background stamp using Tsukineko Memento ink.

Then using a piece of bubble wrap, I stamped white gesso  and sprinkled with glitter while it was white. It dried in about 10-15 minutes.

canvas-close2

I stamped the sentiment on a piece of scrap paper and then applied mod podge over the top and brushed it with the wet edge of my gesso covered bubble wrap.

I die cut the Dove of Peace and applied it to the canvas with mod podge, as well.

This worked well for Sabrina’s Hope You Can Cling To challenge, not a card, but I still hope the recipient will love it… I hope I can part with it. 🙂 As easy as it was to create, I think I’ll make a few more for Christmas gifts.

Welcome to Hope You Can Cling To

SHINE HYCCT1401B

It’s here. Hope You Can Cling To is here. It is such a special time at Splitcoaststampers when we spend a lot of time creating and crafting in honor of cancer patients and their families…sharing hope one card at a time.

HYCCT Blinking

To kick things off today, I am hosting a challenge. You can find the details right here, and I hope you’ll join us! My challenge is on post #2, but I encourage you to participate in as many as you can because there are many fabulous creative sparking ideas and literally thousands of dollars in prizes up for grabs at the end of the month.

SHINE full HYCCT1401B

Cancer is dark and ugly, but hope shines bright! And my challenge is about hope for a cure, hope for a future, hope for support and encouragement. My challenge to SHINE ON! To use an image that evokes shine in some form or fashion. I love the Watt’s Up set and coordinating Lightbulb Dienamic from MFT, and in this case it was perfect for my challenge.

I used a Copic Airbrush and marker Y38 to airbrush behind a vellum lightbulb and some clear fine glitter for extra SHINE.

Join us this month! You’ll enjoy the challenges, meet some new friends, maybe find a fun new recipe in the What’s for Dinner chat thread 🙂 and help share hope with people who are facing dark situation. All month long, let your light SHINE.

Hey Darlin’

Hey-Darlin_Sept2014

Full steam into kickoff mode for the upcoming Hope You Can Cling To cancer awareness campaign at Splitcoaststampers. Really hoping you’ll find time to stamp with us in October. So, so many wonderful prizes up for grabs with touching stories and sharing. It’s great to be a paper crafter in October. 😀

My favorite card from my samples for last week’s Splitcoaststampers Product Focus for Clearsnap Decades Inkpads. Very cowboy… very much my style…
