A Friend’s Fun Find

122108reading-glasses.jpg

Last month, when I was away on the Texas Escape, I realized that, um, how shall I say… the words in all of my books, the print on my computer screen and the stamped images underneath my markers were shrinking at an alarming rate. My goodness, some of them were just downright blurry. The girls and I were joking (not really laughing, mind you, but joking) about fun and hip reading glasses and looking sassy as we’re getting older.  I had to laugh when these beauties arrived on Friday afternoon.

I am blessed with caring, wonderful and funny women in my life.

Winner! Copics & Cupcakes!

Short and sweet this morning! I enjoyed and appreciated all of your comments about Christmas and your Christmas carol favorites. Thank you so much for participating.

My favorite carol, like so many of you, would be ‘O Holy Night’. It usually gives me chills. I really like the Harry Connick, Jr. version. 🙂 We’re having family dinner today, and Mom is waiting for me to put together a relish tray and set the table. So, make sure you check out Sharon’s blog for her Copic and Cupcake winner. I used Random.org to select my winner, so without further babbling…

 Here are your random numbers:

Thanks for the chance to win some candy. I would have to say my favorite song would be The Little Drummer Boy. I always loved watching the children singing this song and their little cheeks puffing out as they say pa-rumpa-pum-pum.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and TFS.

Debbie, give me a shout with your address, and I’ll ship your Copics and Cupcakes off to you on Monday. Happy Thanksgiving!

Cupcake, Carols & Copic Giveaway!

cupcake-carols-lcraig-112608.jpg

So, here’s that Cupcakes & Copics project I’ve been working on and a double chance at sweet blog candy!

Finally, I remembered to select my patterned paper first thing, Good Cheer from October Afternoon. It was easy to match my Copic colors up to the pretty patterns for coordinated cupcakes.  I had colored them over the weekend and glittered them up. I cut out all these little cupcakes while I was sitting under the hairdryer at the beauty shop yesterday. Yes, here in small-town America, it’s still the beauty shop, just like in Steel Magnolias. 🙂 No salon trips for me!

I’m going to  let the girls have a few friends over for caroling, cocoa and cupcakes in a few weeks. I made these little song books for each of them. My girls love to sing, so I know it will be a fun, fun time. I’ll keep it *really* simple – we have a retirement complex just for ladies on our street, so we’ll go there and a few neighbors.

cupcake-carols-inside-lcraig-112608.jpg

My girls are still pretty little, so I only included 4 songs. That’s enough for them, and less chance of the pages blowing out and away like that. 😉 The pages are tied into the book with Baker’s Twine from Martha Stewart. Then, I’ll bring the girls back here for a quick cupcake and oh, so sad, it’s time to go! Gotta keep it short and sweet or I’ll have barbie heads and polly pocket shoes all over the house in a matter of 3.8 minutes. You think I’m kidding?

I do think this will be fun! I’ll try to remember to post pictures when we do the thing…I bet you think some Copic and Cupcake blog candy would be a lot more fun than watching my 2 angels sing and sling cupcake crumbs. 🙂

Well, Happy Thanksgiving this is for you:

Copic candy to go with it! Prize package from Marianne at Copic Markers. (Note: I did edit my picture from the original post. What is pictured is what you will receive in this blog candy!) Now isn’t that sweet?

How do you enter? Leave me a comment with title of your favorite Christmas carol! It’s that simple…I’ll choose a winner on Friday evening, post on Saturday morning and ship this prize pack out on Monday.

But wait, there’s MORE! Double your chances to win by dropping by to see what Sharon Harnist has created with her Season’s Sweetings and/or Home Sweet Home stamps from Taylor. I got to see the sweet beginnings of her project when I was at her home earlier in the month…you are going to drool over it. I know!! She’s also got a blog candy package just like mine! So, with that, I’ll wish you good luck and get back to my pre-Thanksgiving chores. 🙂

Congrats to kim3timemom ~ send me your snail mail, and I’ll get this out today. I’m in the middle of about 5 projects: glitter and spray paint cans everywhere. Hoping to post a card in just a little bit. It’s the last day of school, and I’m trying to cram 9 months of work into the next 3 hours. Have a great, great day!

Missing You & Happy Mail

large-sil-lcraig-032508.jpg

I’m still under the ‘clean sweep’ rock, but didn’t want to leave you empty handed if you stopped by. <wink> Here’s another Nature’s Silhouette (it’s available for purchase today) card that I quickly put together for a friend.  Hardware and Stickles kick this up a notch without adding too much time to the process. I’m actually going to mail this one today. Do you know that this will be the 3rd card this week that I have actually made and sent! <gasp>

I am trying to be much more diligent about sending cards to people I care for.  Why? Because the following card actually made me draw a breath when I opened the envelope. I received this RAK from fellow blogger Gretchen Belanger, and I was instantly reminded what it feels like to open a little present, to know that someone was ‘just thinking about you’.  You can see a TON of awesome ideas on Gretchen’s blog. Thank you, Gretchen for thinking about me.

Happy Mail & Happy Accident

lcraig-taketen-spring08b.jpg

A wonderful surprise showed up in my mailbox today! It was my complimentary copy of the new Spring Take Ten magazine.  I was excited to see one of my cards on the cover – 1st Class, lower right. I have a mini-tutorial on the Split Negative technique on pages 62-63. There are tons of other wonderful ideas in here from some of your favorite artists. I spotted  many samples from Sharon Johnson, Debbie Olson, Tricia Ulberg, Kim van der Sanden, Jen del Muro, Lisa Zappa, Kathy Torrence and Kim Hughes. It will be available March 1st. Thanks for letting me gush just a bit.

Here is another sample that I created for the CHF booth at CHA. This is one of those ‘happy accidents’ cards. The ink is Beige Brilliance Pearlescent applied to my red stained brayer. The Beige Brilliance drew out some of the red tone from the brayer and the ink took on a light pink sheen. I contemplated trashing the idea, but then decided to run with it. It totally fit the color scheme.

Just another bit of encouragement to anyone on the TK fence. While these images are beautiful when colored, you do not have to be a watercolor or marker artist to use these stamps. They make wonderful monochromatic cards.

  • Stamps: Forest Chaple by Thomas Kinkaid – & Victorian Leaves from Cornish Heritage Farms
  • Ink: Beige Brilliance Pearlescent
  • Cardstock: Spring Willow Dark, Razzleberry Medium and Cryogen White
  • Accs: Prima Blossoms, Faux Pearls, Corsage Pin, Sheer Twinkle May Arts & Nestabilities by Spellbinders

Happy Mail: It shimmers!

sharon-lcraig-101907.jpg

I think I’ve lived a year in the last month…It’s cards like this one that keep you going! Sharon is one of those rare breed stampers…she actually sends the cards she creates. LOL! She’s used the emboss resist technique and several layers of ‘color’ to give this depth and dimension. It’s just gorgeous! As if the card wasn’t enough….it came with this inside:
