Just Because

Just because, I loved this Joy Ride set from Hero Arts. I remember the summer between 6th and 7th grade I babysat for a foster mom with custody of 2 precious little boys while she worked 2nd shift as an RN at the local hospital. I saved all of my money that summer to buy a Schwinn 10-speed bike. At 75 cents per hour, it took a long time to save $127. I loved that bike for the places it would take me, but mostly I loved that I paid for it myself.

I had the sentiment circle on my desk as I was putting this card together, and I realized it was just about the same size as the larger wheel of the bike, so I replaced the wheel. Beautiful sentiments in this set from JustRite, You’re So Sweet.

Have a great day!

  1. This is so darling. I love how you put the sentiment in the big wheel. Very nice. I too babysat when I was in high school. I babysit my older cousins two boys when they were in upper elementary school. I got $2.00 an hour, which was good money back then. I was a skier, so I used my babysitting money to buy a good pair of racing ski’s so I could ski on our school’s ski team. I loved watching those boys. It was so fun for me to go to ‘little’ Philips wedding a few years ago. Boy, that makes you feel old – right??
By the way, my friend and I are in the Boston Copic class that you’ll be teaching in June. We are so excited for the class. Can’t wait to meet you and learn a few more techniques.

  2. What a darling idea, Lori! This is too cute!

  3. Brilliant, brilliant idea. I have that set and love that bicycle, I may be lifting this idea. Saving money to buy something you want makes it so much more worthwhile and important in you life. This is true as kids and as adults. You learned an amazing life lesson with that bike. Hope your day is full of sunshine.

  4. Lovely card! Your work is fabulous!

  5. Cool card, cool story, my friend! I always wanted a Schwinn…just like my friend and neigbor, Terri, who, BTW had really cool purple and pink plaid Toughskin jeans that I coveted for years! Enough about me, right?! Hope you are doing well, too, sweet Lori!

  6. LOVE that you used the circle sentiment for the wheel! Wonderful story too!!!

  7. So, so clever Miss Lori!!! Love what you’ve done here!!
