Bless You!

bless-you_lcraig.jpg

So many sickies with all the spring pollen! AAAA AchOO!

It’s Sketch Friday! Taylor delivered an awesome sketch today! Out of my comfort zone to have all those different boxes in the background.  That center square was perfect for my little FlueyBugg from Stamping Bella. Wings are perfect for fading to white with Copics.

bless-you-close_lcraig.jpg

I put some Illuminate Smooch on her wings, and I just love that stuff. Honestly, I didn’t get any for a long time because it seemed like it would be a mess. Not true. It goes on smooth and thin, dries quickly. Glad that I branched out and tried some. Very iridescent.

I’m going to check out the other Cupcake Samplers this morning and get to work. You can see them all by visiting:  Monika Davis  • Lisa HjulbergLynn Mercurio Melissa SaulsAlice WertzRachel SztonskySherrie Siemens.

Tonight? It’s chick time with my girlfriends. Dinner and a movie! Should be fun!

Hope you have a great weekend!

Nurse Nellie

nurse_toni_lcraig_tesc102.jpg

One of my very favorite layouts from Taylor this week for the Taylored Expressions Sketch Crew challenge #102, making the bow work for the square element on the right. I inked up little Nurse Nellie from Stamping Bella and colored her this morning with Copics.

I’m sending the card to a friend – and I don’t think she reads my blog – I hope not. <wink> She’s headed to Haiti with the Global Orphan Project next week to help anyway she can. I’m so excited for her. I know she’ll be a blessing to the many children (and adults) she’s sure to encounter.

I’m going to do a quick scan of the other sketch challenge cards today, and then I’m getting ready for a championship swim meet this weekend. My 9 year old is eager and ready to go. We’ve given her a special incentive to really reach for a few new times, especially in her breast and backstrokes. I’m confident she’s going to make it happen, and I’m so excited to watch her try. In our down time (you get some of that at large swim meets), I’m getting ready for Copic Certification in Des Moines next week. I’ll be packing a few markers to the pool deck. 🙂

Make sure you check out all of the sketch-spiration today:

Then, it’s time for you to get crafty. 🙂
Have a great weekend!

Double Dipper: Never Stop Sparkling

sparkle-small-lcraig.jpg

Yes it really does sparkle that much in real life. Doodlebug Paper meet ADDY’tude!

Several weeks ago, I mailed this stamp, ADDY’tude Loves to Sparkle to Michele Boyer.  She’s always up for cyber-stamping with a friend, and I knew her affection for rubber of the Bella variety. We both love the ones illustrated by the fabulous Christy Croll. 😉  We decided we’d post our creations at the same time, and ‘we’ll call this the Double Dipper’, says Michele.

I had so much fun paper-piecing and coloring this image last weekend. I think I probably giggled out loud when I realized her designer earrings were the perfect size for Taylor’s Tiny Twinkle bling. The glittered paper from Doodlebug, the glitter pens, the rhinestones. It was so fun.

I knew this little lady was stepping into the spotlight, so I stamped her in Tuxedo Black Memento ink and the cut a mask of the full stamp. After masking her body, I used my Copic airbrush and YR31 to give the card a glow. I focused the most intense sprays of color at the edge of her body so the light just radiates behind her. Then I removed my mask, and colored the hair, skin and bracelets. I stamped her body again on the glittered paper with Black StazOn, trimmed out the dress, shoes and purse and pieced them to the card front. Bling, bling and she’s ready for a night on the town. 🙂

I’m going to check out Michele’s card (which I’m sure I’ll drool over – she has that way with rubber). Then, I’m going to finish up my Divine Design project for the month. I’m almost finished – better a little late than never. 🙂  Thanks for stopping by today.

Aw Shucks…

 aw-shucks-lcraig-copy.jpg

Aw shucks…. you shouldn’t have!

I’m very well aware that I’ve used cherry themed images the last 3 weeks for the weekend sketch challenge. I’m also very sure that it wasn’t intentional. There are just so many cute cherry themed things out there right now. 😉 Meet Henrietta from Stamping Bella! Just makes me smile when I see her standing there, all demure and coy.

aw-shucks-close-lcraig.jpg

She is stamped on ivory cardstock with Memento inks – Rich Cocoa and LadyBug. I used the dew drop size so that I could color right onto the stamp and get her dress and body in two different colors. You could do the same thing with brushtip markers. I colored the cherries with Copic Markers (R27 and YG25) and then shaded with W1. The cherries have a little glaze added to them, and the white pleats of her dress shimmer.

Hope you enjoy the sketch this weekend. You can see other fabulous samples (as always) from Beate, Cambria, Charmaine, Laurie, Mary Jo and Sharon.

On Cloud Nine

bella-birthday-close-lcraig-062509.jpg

Both of my little girls were born in June, so I’m ‘on cloud nine‘ to be celebrating Bella Birthday Blog Skip, Hop & Dance in honor of Miss Emily, the original Stamping Bella. If you are just stopping by, the fun started just a few hops back. If you get lost anywhere along the way, there is a master hopper list here.

bella-birthday-lcraig-062509.jpg

This will be my oldest daughter’s card tomorrow when she turns NINE!  Her daddy will probably give her a card with camouflage something or other, so this one will really stand out! 🙂  I think she’ll love the pink and the glitz. We took both of our girls, my parents and my grandma to the Lyceum Theater for a fabulous production of Annie last night to celebrate, and we’ll spend the weekend with family.

Your next stop on the Bella Birthday Blog Hop is with Ms. Carole Burrage.

I can’t wait to get over to Carole’s blog. Her cards are always amazing, but her posts always make me howl with laughter. Enjoy yourself, and thanks for stopping by.

Just For Fun: bluebell BITTYBLOOM Bella

jff-0209a.jpg

Say that 3 times fast! It’s time for another Just For Fun challenge with my partners in crime:  Michele Boyer, Carole Burrage, Julie Campbell and Alli Miles. Everyone starts out with the same main image and patterned paper (two 1/4 sheet pieces – no room for error! LOL!) This month, it was Julie’s turn to pick the patterned paper: Girl Friday from Cosmo Cricket and Alli picked this darling Stamping Bella image: bluebell BITTYBLOOM.

jff-0209c.jpg

I colored my bluebell with Copic Markers (R37, YR14, BG72, YG95, E00, R20 and W1) and then sponged Antique Linen Distress Ink from Ranger on my edges with Cut & Dry Foam.  You can find Copics and the Rangers items I’ve used at Ellen Hutson.  When I was done coloring, I added some shimmer and glitter to bluebell’s blouse. The glitter is Butterfly Transparent from Art Glitter.

jff-0209b.jpg

A new shipment of WhipperSnapper arrived here today, and I couldn’t resist one of Anna‘s gorgeous sentiments from the set, Friendly Expressions. It’s stamped in Rich Cocoa Memento and highlighted with a Clear Spica Glitter Pen.

jff-0209d.jpg

I stacked a few Prima Flowers and added a button. I’ve been using ZipDry a LOT lately on embellishments like this. There is some room to move while you are laying your card out, but once it’s dry – zippy quick – IT’S STAYING PUT.  The smaller rhinestones are Taylor Twinkles from Taylored Expressions.

I hope you enjoy the Just For Fun samples. I think it’s great to see what everyone does with similar supplies and color schemes. This was fun. SO, fun that I’ll spread the joy. Leave a comment to say HI, and I’ll pick a winner on Friday morning to send this stamp from Stamping Bella to. Have a great day.
