Sweet Summer

The sweetness of summer. It’s absolutely my favorite. And, my most favorite is being outside in the solace of trees, water, mountains, and the Ozark hills where I live. The new Taylored Expressions summer stamp and die release celebrates all of these things and more!

I created this card by ink blending multiple panels of Sugar Cube cardstock to represent the tree-line, purple mountain majesty, and a gorgeous orange-pink moon rise over the campsite. The landscapes were cut using the new Serene Scene Landscapes Vol. 2 dies. After ink blending, I used a trick I learned from Jen Shults to create texture on my blended layers by spritzing them with alcohol for a color lift. On the star background panel, I used the Splatter Background stamp and Sea Salt ink to lift the more prominent stars before cutting the Big Dipper into the panel with the die from the same Landscapes Vol. 2 die set. So cute!

My camper was built from the Serene Scenes Camping Additions die set. All of my pieces started as Sugar Cube cardstock, and I used the Bitty Blender Brushes to add color. I finished everything off with foam tape and a fun sentiment from the Happy Camper stamp set.

The colors I used to create this scene are: Peapod and Cilantro (grass and treeline), Macaron and Jelly Donut (purple mountain majesty), with Dragon Fruit, Plum Punch, Candy Corn, and Pineapple (sky), and Cookie Monster, Confetti Cake, Pineapple, Toffee, Candy Corn, Earl Grey, and Pink Champagne for the tent and camper.

What’s a summer get together without high-flying clouds and colorful kite-tails dancing in the wind? It’s the Flying High stamp and stencil combo with Let’s Go Fly a Kite coordinating dies for the win! I used the Cloud Stacklet dies as a place for my sentiment to rest – stamped from the new set, Mini Strips – Carried Away. I simply masked off the surrounding sentiments to use only WHAT’S UP, FRIEND?

My color combo for this card is Candy Corn, Cookie Monster, and Watermelon. The layering stencil makes it easy to keep the different layers super clean. I used the Stitched Rectangle and Petite Scallop Rectangle dies to frame my scene. I love this colorful card!

My third design for the week showcases a fun new set to color, Happy Home and Oh My Word – Welcome stamps and coordinating dies. My homes are colored with OLO marker. The Here Comes the Sun stencil makes a perfect sun glow behind the row houses.

My final card features the Flying High, Let’s Go Fly a Kite, and Carried Away Mini Strips that will be used in Heather’s Craft Along Class (details below!). I created a simple scene with the Cloud Cutting Plate and the Hexagon Stacklets. I have a friend with a 4th of July birthday, so this traditional Independence Day color combo of Blueberry, Cherry Pop, and Sugar Cube will be perfect for her!
