Life gets in the Way…

This morning I was talking to my friend, Jenn and lamented that I might not be cut out for the blog world because life gets in the way, and things don’t work out like you plan. You’ll notice I never finished all those challenges I wanted to do last week! <sigh> We had a family situation that required more of my time than normal. Doesn’t that happen to all of us? And, you know what, it’s ok.

So this week, I am back to a little stampin’. Last night, I held one of the classes that I lead at our community career center. I had 16 ladies to ‘Stamp-a-Stack’ of all occassion cards. The idea is that the participants get to enjoy an evening away from home, leave with a stash of cards that they can use and maybe get to try a fun embellishment or technique that they might not have used before. The cards are very basic because of the time constraints of the class.

This morning, I am using up some of my left over cardstock and making up some cards that I need to send on behalf of my family.

I have modified the original from my class by adding a touch of ribbon and the ‘sympathy’ sentiment. The white blossoms are stamped with White Craft ink on Marigold Morning cardstock. The blossoms on the white layer of cardstock are stamped with ink from Apricot and Old Olive markers. The edges of the white cardstock are brushed with the tip of the Apricot marker for just a bit of depth.

This is another variation from last night’s class. The base is Certainly Celery, and the designer paper and stamped images on the white are from the Polka Dots and Paisley line that are featured in the Spring Mini catalog. I absolutely LOVE this paper, and I teased my ladies last night. I told them that the only reason I shared it with them last night is because I knew I could order more on Thursday. See, as a Stampin’ UP! demo, we are allowed to pre-order one of each item in a new mini catalog one month before that sales period begins. The idea is that we will be busy making samples for folks to see and get excited about. <wink>

So, I stamped up about 7 or 8 of these this morning, and I am mailing them out to people who make a difference. One is going to a teacher at the elementary school who I barely know. Seems she and her husband are adopting a brother/sister pair of students who need a good home. I know the couple well enough to know that they are giving this kids the opportunity of a lifetime. In short, they are going to make a BIG difference. Another one is going to someone who spends a lot of time working with the youth at my church. Again, his efforts are going to make a BIG difference in several lives. Add a few friends, a special member of our family and you have a lot of blessings to be counted.

I’m off to mail these out and help a girlfriend strip wallpaper! Check back soon! I have a few WhipperSnapper cards that I hope to upload tomorrow. You will just flip out for some of the stamps that are featured in their new spring line.
