to the moon and back…x2

I am elated for one of my friends, Miss Julee of Verve Stamps, and I know I’m not alone! 🙂  It turns out she’s expecting a double-bundle-of-joy in the next few weeks. TWIN BOYS! What a wonderful blessing.

Today, the Mojo Monday sketch team and many of Julee’s friends and team mates are having a special baby blog hop to celebrate, and I’m so excited to participate. If you’d like to start at the beginning of the hop, the whole thing is being kicked off with Teresa Kline.

I’m a little short on baby stamps in my stash, but I loved how this all came together. I used the sentiment ‘love you to the moon and back’ and the ‘X’ from the xoxo sentiments in the LOVE NOTES set to create this little tag. I’ve paired it with some vintage October Afternoon paper from my stash.

There are some great ladies participating in this blog hop today, so I hope you have a chance to see a few of the cards.

The next stop on the hop is the wickedly talented, Miss Maureen Plut.

Have a beautiful Monday!

Santa’s Helper & new year classes

Verve Stamps had a sweet little release a few weeks ago, and I was smitten with this guy, Santa’s Helper. So sweet! I used him for this week’s Card Positioning Systems’ sketch.

He’s colored with Copic Marker and layered with Holly Jolly paper from Echo Park. I used a few sticker elements from the Holly Jolly pack, as well as some pretty Divine Twine.

We had our first snow the morning that I was photographing – how poignant!

I’m going to run an ad in the paper for a Santa’s helper this year. It’s not that I’m running behind, but I’m a little short on ideas. Hopefully, inspiration will strike pretty soon. 🙂

As soon as the new year is here, the Copic team will be hitting the ground running with new standard and intermediate classes and great updates to the Certification program. There are several classes open now for registration (Memphis, TN, Anaheim, CA and San Diego, CA). We have a great year planned for classes (hopefully) near you. You can find all of the upcoming class info HERE.

Thanks for stopping by!

behind every successful woman…

Behind every successful woman is a substantial amount of coffee.

I ordered some of the best new K-Cups for my Keurig about a week ago, Chocolate Glazed Donut from the Donut House Collection. Oh my heavens!

I do not like sweetened drinks and these are wonderful. No sugar, just the essence of chocolate donut while it’s brewing. I was telling one of my ‘running girls’ about them this morning, and I wanted to share a few cups. I fixed up a quick cello bag with shredded paper and tag with my Verve set, Delightful and Delicious (Yes, it’s on sale!).

With a Spellbinders die and some dyed seam binding, this was a 7 minute project, start to finish.

This was so simple, I almost didn’t take a picture, but my friend loved it, and I’m thinking there just might be a few more of these little ditties coming out of the craft room in the next few weeks.

Have a wonderful night!

Carpe Diem…and we did.

For my final Want2Scrap guest designer project, I wanted to show a framed layout that I put together after my fabulous trip to New York City earlier this month with my dearest, Jenn Balcer.

Jenn and I took Manhattan by storm for 4 full days…making the absolute most of it! Sightseeing! Shopping! Eating! Seeing Wicked! The Crown of the Lady Liberty! The Empire State Building! With lots of open time (and no kids in tow), we were able to seize the days and nights! It was truly a fabulous trip, and I feel so blessed to tuck these memories into my heart to relish for many years.

This is a photo was taken at the top of the Empire State Building at midnight.

Designer tip – Coloring Want2Scrap™ rhinestones with Copic Marker is easy since the alcohol based ink will adhere to virtually any non-porous surface. While bling is still on manufacturer packaged acrylic sheet, lightly skim color over the top of silver bling with the side of the brush tip on the Copic Sketch (or Ciao). This will let you apply ink over top of the bling embellishment very quickly without applying ink to the clear adhesive of the design. You should probably select a color of marker that is a shade or two *darker* than your desired color, and always test an inconspicuous rhinestone before coloring final embellishment.

I can’t believe I’m at the end of my Guest Designing month with Want2Scrap™. I’ve assured Miss Heidi that’s not the end of my Want2Scrap™ consumption. 🙂 Thanks so much to Michele and her fabulous team for inviting me to share with you this month. I’ve loved it!

God is GOOD

It’s the final day of CHA festivities! It’s always a fabulous time here in Chicago. I’m glad to be back with a sample for CPS Sketch 228. {love} this sketch. It works perfectly for mass production cards with sweet sentiments as the focus.  I hope you’ll find them to stamp this week, because this one is fast and fun.

Greet the day with a song in your heart.

This came together very quickly for me. The God is Good sentiment, fluer-de-lis stamp and dies are all from Verve Stamps. The patterned paper and printed embellishments are all from the 6×6 paper pack of Odds and Ends from Cosmo Cricket. The Distressed Dot background is from Unity Stamp Co. The caramel colored roses were a birthday gift from my dear friend, Jami…

We’re off to the final day of the SuperShow this morning, and then I’m home late tonight. It’s been a treat, but I’m definitely ready to be back home with my family. I always am.

God is GOOD…all the time.

Copic Coloring Guide Blog Hop

How about a Copic Coloring Guide Blog Hop!? We have beautiful coloring, stunning card projects, and BLOG CANDY!

I am fortunate to have 2 projects included in the new Copic Coloring Guide by Colleen Schaan and Marianne Walker! This wonderful resource contains information about the different styles of Copic markers, explains the coloring/numbering system, details how to pick good blending groups, teaches a number of blending techniques through illustrated tutorials, and de-mistifies the colorless blender marker.  Each card project includes step-by-step coloring AND assembly instructions…  along with supply lists and manufacturer information to make recreating the projects simple and easy.

Here is a sneak at my favorite project from the book…Joy for the Journey from page 22. I’ve always loved these hot air balloons from Verve. This particular one is colored with Copic Marker (BG70,BG72,E31,Y17,Y19,YG21,YG25,YR02 and YR07). Dies are from Sizzix (Top Note and Tattered Florals). You’ll find it on page 22, right in the middle of over 40 beautiful projects (separated into beginner, intermediate and advanced skill level) colored by some of my favorite people in the papercrafting industry.

You can find more information about the Copic Coloring Guide HERE (also available in PDF electronic download).

the LORD directs his steps…

A man’s heart plans his way, but the LORD directs his steps. ~ Proverbs 16:9

I’m hanging out at home tonight getting stampy for Virtual Stamp Night at Splitcoaststampers. This is my card for the first challenge of the night, Blue Waters, hosted by my friend, Beate. I had *NO* issue with the colors of the challenge, but to kick things up a notch I promised myself (and Jenn) that I wouldn’t end up using white flowers. LOL. I tried to catch the Tsukineko Shimmer Spritz on the kraft blooms with my camera to no avail. They sure are sparkly!

This came together for me very quickly, and I was excited to use some of my new stamping goodies that I had been hoarding. I’m off to work on challenge #2. If you find time to stamp this weekend, join us. You’ll find a master list of challenges here, and you have until 8 PM eastern, Monday, May 23rd to share your creations. Have a great weekend!

Faith: Substance of Things Hoped For

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. ~ Hebrews 11:1

I used Accent Notes and Hebrews 11:1 both from Verve Stamps for a clean and simple offering to the Tuesday Trigger. I needed a clear-my-head kind of break this morning, and what’s not to love about china blue mixed with a little Splitcoast orange? I added some beaded floral sprigs (a gift from my dear friend, Taylor). These definitely lend themselves to a hand-delivered sentiment, but I love how they jazzed up my quick card. Add a bow. Done.

Here’s a quick picture of the Tuesday Trigger. I hope you find a few minutes to get crafty today!

I’m thinking little more clearly now, and I’m going to head back to the office.

Let Us Not Become Weary

‘Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. ~ Galatians 6:9

I had the opportunity to get crafty yesterday. Something that hasn’t happened in the weeks leading up to Christmas (or since). It was so nice. I did a little inspiration browsing and found my good friend Charmaines‘s awesome Viva La Verve sketch for this week. Charmaine and I used to sketch together every Friday for a long time, and I’ve missed working with her. 🙂 I thought I’d give this one a little whirl.

I used my Verve set, Many Blessings and some beautiful KI Memories, Heirloom paper to make my card. The card base and main image panel is kraft cardstock. After I stamped my flowers on kraft with Rich Cocoa Memento ink, I cut them with Taylored Expressions’ Take Note Die 3.  Then I colored my blooms with Copic. Most kraft cardstocks are so soft, and they will bleed and feather very easily. I have two tidbits of advice: 1) lighter than you think you need colors and 2) soft hand.

I can’t remember the last time I finished off the inside of a card to show you, but this time around I used my  Galatians 6:9 Plain Jane from Verve. These cards will be perfect to send a little love and encouragement. I’ve got a few people in mind this week. I actually made 3 of these cards. I’ll be sending at least two of them out in Monday’s mail. Yeah me!

Don’t forget that the Copic team is in the middle of announcing the many new products coming out this year at CHA. Unlike past years, the new 2011 Copic catalog is a showcase of artists and inspiration, as well as a place where you can find all your favorite Copic supplies. See gorgeous creations from a variety of artists, from paper crafting to pop-culture. The illustrations are GORGEOUS! Some are so lifelike, you’d swear they were photos.

The new catalog will be available in the booth at CHA, and will also be available for download soon from the Copic website. You’ll be able to find this new catalog in your local stores at the beginning of February!

We’re still working on a giveaway for new 2011 Swatchbooks. To win a free 2011 Copic Color Swatchbook, leave a comment on Friday’s post. Tomorrow we each draw a winner, so be sure that you’ve left a comment on each Copic Designer’s blog. We’ll also have a very fun announcement, so I’ll see you tomorrow.

Happy Sunday!
