Discover a Friend

centers-rare-friend-lcraig-081008.jpg

How rare and wonderful is that flash of a moment when we realize we have discovered a friend.

Here’s a quick card for you! I love this sentiment. I’m feeling the need to get caught up on some friendly type correspondence…letting some fabulous ladies know how special they are to me. I fear I’ve let that slide the last few months. So I’m going to continue building that stash of ‘friendship’ cards – easy with the Friend Centers set from CHF.

I’ll try to pop back in tomorrow night with some updates from the Elvis Expo – my friend Sarah is here to help me. Can you even believe how many jumpsuits and sets of long sideburns we are going to see this week? You’re jealous, aren’t you? Tonight we had dinner at the legendary Rendezvous – they say that Elvis would have these ribs flown into Vegas when he was away from Memphis. After that we sat in a pub to watch Michael Phelps make Olympic history and then rode the Memphis trolley back to our hotel. It was such a fun night!

Thanks for stopping by! I’ll see you tomorrow!

Cocoa in July?

cocoa-packets-lcraig-072408.jpg

Ashley came to me this morning saying, “Mommy, I checked the temperature. It’s only 74 degrees, can I please have hot cocoa?” I still have a cup of coffee most mornings, so who am I to deny the child hot cocoa in the mid of summer?

This little pouch is made with Lesley’s newest Vintage Winter Signage set. I’m picturing cute teacher and neighbor gifts with this in the coming months. The body of the pouch is 4.25″ x 11″ – scored at 5″ and 6″, it’s folded up in a U shape with a 1″ wide base at the bottom. Then a Suede Brown topper is fitted over the top to close it up. You could use a velcro dot or ribbon to keep the pouch tight. A glue dot or two on the inside holds the cocoa snug as the sides are open.

  • Stamps: Winter Vintage Signage & Daisy Chain Scrapblock (TM) both from Cornish Heritage Farms
  • Cardstock: Super Smooth White, Intense Pink & Suede Dark Brown Prism – available from Cornish, as well
  • Ink: Brilliance Pearlescent Chocolate
  • Accs: Copic Markers, Inksentials White Gel Pen – Ranger, Scalloped Petite Ovals Nestabilities – Spellbinders, May Arts Ribbon from Jody Lynn and bling, bling bling KaiserCraft

Sleigh Rides – new CHF & October Afternoon

sleigh-lcraig-072408.jpg

Another few favorite CHA releases – Vintage Winter Signage from Cornish Heritage Farms (available tomorrow) and Good Cheer Paper from October Afternoon. October afternoon was one of my favorites at the Winter CHA show, and they did it again last week. You can see reports on their new releases HERE. This particular pattern of paper is called Sleigh Ride, and it goes wonderfully with the Sleigh Ride stamp! Good times! Oh, and the itty bitty bling – you can get it from Taylor, HERE. (I see they are temporarily out of stock, but I’m leaving the link because Taylor has other cool stuff!)

Here is another quick card using Lesley Langdon‘s Rummage Bin set: Primitive Christmas! and the reverse side of the Sleigh Ride paper. Her images in these two releases are just wonderful. The house is stamped with Pearlescent Chocolate ink and colored with Copic Marker (B000). Can’t wait to show you all of the vintage winter images from CHF tomorrow.

I’ll see you tomorrow – right now, I have a date with the cutest little 8 year old and a checkerboard. Have a great day!

For the Man

out-for-pub.jpg

In honor of my 12th wedding anniversary yesterday, here’s a card for my dear, sweet husband. While he’s not a ‘cowboy’ in true definition, he say’s “y’all” a lot, works in the agriculture field, drives a pick-up and lucky, lucky for me….I get to wash my fair share of Wranglers. Our first date was the 1992 Dodge City Round Up, so he’ll always be my cowboy.

This falls into play with the CHF Challenge Chicks today to create a masculine card. I used ‘For the Men’ from the Rummage Bin line and beautiful new paper and accents from Prima (I got mine from sweet Jacksonbelle). While masculine cards can be hard to wrap your mind around, my stand-by is clean lines and simple stamping. I’ve used a paper punch and distress inks to give it a western feel.

There is *SO* much going on this week with CHA departure in just 2 days! Make sure you stop by Mona Lisa’s blog for incredible new licensing agreement information…can you believe Saturday Evening Post?? Check out the other chicks for more masculine inspiration (and other exciting CHA pre-sneaks for product and new art!): –Kristine Reynolds, Dawn Lusk, Julia Stainton, Michele Boyer, Val Stangle, Kim Hughes, Lisa Silver and Sherrie Siemens

WSC53: Lil Sheriff

wsc53-lcraig-062008.jpg

What a fun little sketch from Beate today! Really, really short with the blah, blah this morning. We’re having family day today and lots of good stuff planned. 🙂 I used the Rummage Bin’s For the Men set to make a quick masculine card. The little star tag is from that set and says, ‘little cowboy, western star, sheriff wanted’. You can see other samples for this sketch from Beate’s regular girls: Cambria, Charmaine, Jenn, Mary Jo, Laurie and Sharon. I’m sure it will be well worth the click. Have a fabulous weekend!

Baby Girl

baby-girl-lcraig-061908.jpg

Do you remember my sweet friend, Jennifer, the one who loves her husband very much? I had lunch with her and 2 other friends today to celebrate the arrival of a sweet baby girl. I was in such a hurry to meet up with my friends that the picture is wonky, so excuse that, but I love these little baby girl shoes from Lesley‘s Shoe Boutique set at CHF. They are just so cute to color and distress a bit. I love adding Crystal Accents to them to make them look like leather mary janes.

I’m supposed to be <insert eyeroll> working on something for dear hubby, so I’m gonna get off the computer before Wes catches me. Thanks for checking in with me, and I’ll have a sketch sample for Beate at 8:30 in the morning. Have a fabulous night!

A plan comes together…

little-pumpkin-page-lcraig-060908.jpg

So, I am bopping along last night getting ready for my mom and dad to come work visit for a days, and I realize that I agreed to scrap with the big girls over at CHF this morning….I’m not even worthy to carry their paper trimmers! Not only that, but I have 1200 photos in my Shutterfly account waiting for a coupon so that I can finally print some pictures from the last year and a half.

I start shuffling through one envelope of random photos, and find this picture of the girls taken in 2005 in my neighbors front yard. It’s one of my favorites (that’s why I have printed it already) because it was a special day for our little family. Not only are the colors bright and fun, but it will go well with my new All Things Fall set from the Rummage Bin line at CHF, thus a plan comes together! So here’s my little pieced together 8×8 page, you can see other real scrapspiration by checking out Alli Miles, Julia Stainton, Becky Olsen and Kim Hughes.  And if anyone has a good Shutterfly coupon, let me know! 😉

Divine Design: Quiet Life

i-thes-4-11-lcraig-060908.jpg

Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands so that you might win the respect of outsiders and so you will not be dependent upon anybody. ~ I Thes. 4:11

It’s time for my monthly Divine Design upload. We’re posting on the 9th this month because the 8th fell to a Sunday. It wasn’t hard for me to find a verse to focus my attention to this month. With vacation, the end of school, committee work, church activities and my real job…we’ve been a flurry of activity. It’s so easy to get caught up in the race, isn’t it?

I’m praying that I can find that quiet life in the warm, still days of summer. Of course, I’m not so naive to think it will just pop in on me. It will take due diligence on my part: saying no, scheduling some quiet time, resisting the urge to sign up for many fun summer activities and a tough one for me, getting enough rest.  I hope that your summer will be about finding balance and a quiet life, as well.

I used my large rectangle scalloped Nestabilities to create this 5″ x 4″ card. It did require piecing to rectangles together, but with scallops and a little ribbon it’s easy to hide the ‘seam’. Stamps from “Beautiful” and “Time to Stamp” made quick work of the main image panel. the flowers and corners are embellished with Latte Pearls from Kaiser Craft. (I got mine at eP.) The ribbon is May Arts, available from Jacksonbelle.

You can see other inspiration from Taylor, Nancy, Angel and Jami. Please feel free to participate, you can load to your blog or share in the Splitcoast gallery using keyword: BVC08. And, as an aside, when I went to grab the link for the SCS gallery, I was so humbled to see the vast number of ladies who are sharing in this challenge. May God be glorified through our desire to walk closer to Him.

Blessings ~
