Divine Design – February

bvc08-b-lcraig-020708.jpg

We know that we all possess knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.

                                                                 ~ I Corinthians 8:1

Here it is month 2 of the Divine Design Challenge. Anyone is free to join me and my friends Angel, Jami, Nancy and Taylor as we post a special scripture on the 8th of each month. The only rules are that it must be scripture, not quotes or inpirational thoughts IF you want to use the keyword when loading to the SCS Gallery – BVC08.

The scripture I chose this month is ALWAYS on my mind around Valentine’s Day. If you really like the backstory, you can read one of my very first blog posts HERE. When I think about this verse and it’s special Valentine sentiment, I am flying high. I guess that is how each of us should feel when we read the greatest love letter ever written. 😉 I hope that love fills your weekend as you prepare for the holiday that celebrates it.

Legend of the Three Trees

believe-lcraig-012008.jpg

There is so much shakin’ over at Cornish Heritage Farms. Were you wowed by another Kim Hughes (I {heart} her!) release yesterday? I missed most of the party yesterday with a sick little one, but here’s your warning: get a good night’s sleep and prep for tomorrow. Cornish is going to release a brand new line from another new artist – ‘grunge meets feminine’ is how Mona Lisa described it, I think.  10 beautiful new sets for your scrapbooking and card-making pleasure, The Rummage Bin. Check this thread at CHF for details on how to win several new sets from this line.

Anyone familiar with the Legend of the Three Trees? I immediately wanted to use the set Primitive Beginnings for a ‘three trees’ card. The card is simple, like the message. It’s long, but worth the read, simply click the link for ‘more’. Thanks for stopping by.

May your weeds be wildflowers…

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. ~  II Corinthians 12:9

Day 2

Then you will understand what is right and just

and fair – every good path.  ~ Proverbs 2:9

This is my prayer for the New Year, that I will be in tune with God’s good path for my life. That doesn’t mean easy or fun all the time, it means the path that leads me to a life lived for Him. That is good.

Have a wonderful day!

Joy…faithfulness…self-control

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,

goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. ~ Galatians 5:22-24

I found these beautiful die-cut photo mats from K&Company over Christmas in my Archiver’s store. They are double-sided, beautiful prints. You have to trim them in the middle to be card sized, but I have been having fun making cards with them the last few days. This is one card I can show you right now, and it showcases the stamp of the month from CHF, Joyful Winter Wishes. Isn’t Kim’s snowman darling?

Last night, I was excited to post this first thing this morning, but I awoke to a ‘bad news’ phone call and cards just weren’t on my mind as I prepared for church. Then at church, we had a time of prayer for a family whose father is being deployed to the Middle East this week. He’ll miss his oldest daughter’s ‘sweet 16’.  Most of you know that my friend and teammate at SCS, Beate sent her husband off this week, as well. My heart breaks when people I care for hurt. I have cried all day long.

As I was thinking about posting the card and ‘joyfulness’, I was reminded of the fruit of the Spirit. Joyfulness is listed right there with patience, faithfulness, self-control. The Holy Spirit meets you whatever your present circumstance, if we just ask.

Come Holy Spirit fill the hearts of your faithful, kindle in us the fire of your love….meet us where we are, with what we need, be it joy, faithfulness or patience as we start a new year.

Today, in the city of David…

“Today in the town of David, a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger. Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.”                             ~  Luke 2:11-14

The tag raises to reveal the Christ child, laying in a manger.

May my mind be steadfast….

You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast,

because he trusts in you. ~ Isaiah 26:3

Journalling scripture, questions, answered prayers, desires and the Lord’s response is a wonderful way to keep your mind steadfast on Him.

This is a journal that I started back in the middle of summer, shortly after I received that wonderful first new catalog shipment from Stampin’ UP! The cocoa designer paper is something that I have really enjoyed using. So, I covered the journal with the DP, and let it sit on my desk … until about 2 weeks ago.

God Bless America!

sparkle-lcraig-070307.jpg

Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD                        ~ Psalm 33:12a

We celebrate the 4th BIG TIME in small town America. Our morning includes a traditional neighborhood parade with a firetruck lead, homemade ‘floats’ (term used loosely), decorated bicycles and wagons, silly hats & noise makers and lots of smiling faces. The parade lasts all of 7 minutes and then we mingle, eat a hotdog and a slice of watermelon and admire how the kids have grown. The photo above is my girls at the 2005 Pill Hill Parade! It doesn’t get more Americana than this!

The highlight of our afternoon will be the live production, “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” at the Lyceum Theatre in historic Arrow Rock, MO. The original Tom Sawyer movie was filmed in Arrow Rock in 1972, and it looks like it will be a big 35th anniversary celebration. We’ll cap the night off with a potluck dinner and fireworks with family friends.

This 6×6 scrapbook page was one of many projects that I completed last fall for the Stampin’ UP! It was used on the Leadership Displays. This page features Tagger’s Dozen, which you can find in the 2007 Fall/Winter Collection Catalog. The background was French Flair stamped in Craft White ink, accented with Dazzling Diamonds. I used both of the Stampin’ UP! tag punches, Night of Navy and Shimmery White cardstock to create the tag that says, “Sparkle!”

May your Fourth Sparkle!

May God Bless America!
