Boo! & Mailing Thicker Cards

One of the very first stamp designers that I had the pleasure of working with closely was Miss Kim Hughes…back in the day when she was first designing stamps for (now defunct) Cornish Heritage Farms. Immediately loved her.

About a month ago, I saw the cutest cow card ever in the history of cow cards, and (because my husband works in the beef industry) I had to order Kim’s cute set Chubby Chums from Paper Smooches. When my set arrived, Miss Kim had surprised me with a gift from this week’s September release.

So, so cute! I got inky yesterday afternoon with a CAS Halloweenies card.

One of the things that I’ve always loved about Kim’s line is the prominent thicker lines on the images making them ideal for many different uses. What I mean is the images are super fun to color, but the lines are thick enough to stamp with colored ink and let them stand on their own, as I’ve done here. The thicker lines also make them super easy to paper-piece. Cute, fun and easy. What’s not to love? Thank you, Kim! I can’t wait to color that {witch}!

Earlier in the week, I showed you this card called Something Borrowed. I had a comment and a few emails about how I would mail something so thick. So, I thought I’d give you a few quick pictures of a mailing method that does double duty!  You can 1) mail the card securely and 2) make a pretty first impression.

I use clear plastic card boxes. I’ve ordered them from several places over the years. These came from Papertrey. The card slips right in.

I type out the recipients name & address along with my return and print it out from my computer. Then I trim that address sheet down to the same size as the card. I slip that inside the clear box so that the card shows on one side and the address on the other. I take it to the post office, have them weigh and affix postage and drop it in the mail.

If you are hand delivering your card, these clear boxes still make quite a statement. Just slip your card in the clear box and tie up with a pretty bow (or not!). Easy. Done.

I’m excited to be hanging out at home and stamping today (maybe with Chubby Chums!)  I’ll be back tomorrow with a sample for the next CPS Sketch.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
