Happy Birthday, Elvis!

Happy Birthday, Elvis! I told you it was a BIG DAY! I always laugh when I make these cards. I have very few people I can send them, too, but they are so fun! This one is going out to Carole. She’s a big Elvis fanatic and we chatted yesterday about the ‘king of rock n’ roll’. (For those of you following His Holy Name and Divine Design, please don’t misunderstand my use of and concept of ‘king’ – lower case k. 🙂  I’m sure Carole’s got the Elvis bling going on at her site today. Of course, if I know her, it’ll be bold and bright! I love that about Carole! Jenn Balcer has some Elvis action going on, too! I’m sure hers will involve turquoise and rhinestones…bets? Hey it’s a real live birthday party! Whether Elvis is alive or not!

I wanted to show you a close up of ELVIS in VersaMark Dazzle from Tsukineko on black. Ah, don’t you feel like you are in Vegas?  This is the frost color. See is shimmer. LOVE that!  You can pick them up a number of places, like Taylored Expressions. I had stamped Jumpsuit Silhouette Elvis in black, trimmed with my Nestabilities die and then airbrushed over with pink Copic Marker (R11). Very fun. Bling is from Mark Richards – I get mine at Archivers. Ribbon from Taylored Expressions.

I’m having flash backs today to the trip I made to Memphis for the folks at Cornish Heritage Farms last summer. Me and my good friend, Sarah had a blast at Elvis Week, working the Elvis Expo selling closely trimmed, deeply etched Elvis lovin’ rubber.  (CHF does hold the exclusive rights to Elvis stamps – anything else is a bootleg!)  The thing about that trip was the buzz of the room, the emotion that attendees had for the ‘king’. It’s like everyone is back in 1968 for just a while when they hit Graceland…of course, we saw more Elvi (plural form, right?) that I could count and jumpsuits on quite few folks that probably shouldn’t still be wearing them. This picture above was Steve. He works for a company that has Elvis Karoke stuff (if I remember right). This was right on the trade show floor – non-stop for 3 days – loud karoke and dirty dancin’. Good times, good times.

This is the guy that eventually took the top spot in the Elvis Finals of the World contest. We had great seats to this show for 2 nights. It really was fun. I don’t remember his name. I’m thinking Donnie – but as soon as my friend, Sherri reads this post, she’ll comment or email me. I know she knows! She was there, too! …. ah, Elvis…..

I’ve got a lunch date with friends, so I’m gonna blaze. Make sure to check out Jenn and Carole. Hunka, hunka burnin’ rubber.

Happy Birthday, Elvis!
