Twin Lizzie & Blog Candy

Β img_6770gif.jpg

Seems like everyone is gearing up for World Card Making Day next weekend, Saturday, October 4th. I’ve put Wes on alert that I’m ‘unavailable’. Lucky for me, he & the girls have plans for a soccer tournament. πŸ™‚ So many companies (including Splitcoast!) are planning challenges and activities to celebrate, it should be fun! I’m planning to create a stash of cards that day. I’ll need to focus on clean and simple if I want to get a lot accomplished.

For my ‘twin Lizzie’ designs today, I’ve paired Lizzie Anne Designs stamps with Eva Basic Grey paper for quick and cute. This first card uses Far East and Tombow Markers. I’ve accented the blossoms with a hint of glitter for punch.Β  I’ve stamped and cut out the lantern. The branch through the loop on the lantern was just drawn in with a marker. It’s attached with a dimensional dot.

This sample is a simple, simple design featuring In the Meadow.Β  The blossoms sparkle with glitter, and it’s finished off with colored twill from Taylored Expressions. Easy Peasy….

I’ve been talking about blog candy for a week – so without further blabbing – candy from Paper Crafts Magazine (not pictured), Lizzie Anne Designs and Cornish Heritage Farms. Package includes: Paper Crafts’ special issue Cards, Gifts, & More: Paper Crafting 3 Ways, Floral Frenzy stamp set from the sweet girls at Lizzie Anne Designs and a gigantic Vintage Ledger Scrapblockβ„’ from my friends at Cornish Heritage Farms. Both of these fine companies are official sponsors of the World Card Making Day site and activities. Thanks to them for their support of my paper crafting passion.

How to enter to win: Leave me a comment with your plans for World Card Making Day – even if they don’t include paper crafting! How’s that for easy? I’ll pick a winner on Sunday night. I might let the girls help me – so who knows what that process will involve. πŸ™‚ However it works out, I’ll mail your stuff so you can have it in time to play on Saturday, October 4th (unless you’re a Canadian winner, I don’t think it would make it that fast!).

I’ll be back in the morning with a card for Beate’s Sketch Challenge – love the sketch this week! Hope you do too! Have a great day!

  1. I’m heading up to CKC Hartford on the 3rd, so I plan to have a LOT of new fun goodies to play with on the 4th.

  2. Well, our family is actually going away next weekend for a pumpkin festival at a friend’s family farm, so no papercrafting for me – but I’ve set aside the following weekend for cardmaking! πŸ™‚

  3. I don’t have any major plans, so I will HAVE to make a card or two! This will be our first weekend without softball in many weeks, so it’s kind of odd not having something on the calendar.

  4. GREAT candy offer, Lori! i haven’t confirmed plans for 10/4 yet, however, i’m fairly certain i’ll be hunting. yes, hunting. it’s bow season in florida and my husband and i hunt deer. but, i might take some crafting stuff with my and stamp over our mid-day break from the woods πŸ™‚

  5. i’m going to to my best to make as many cards for my own stash as i can on that day…i find myself spending all of my creative time finishing projects for other people! this is an awesome prize, thanks for the chance to win πŸ™‚

  6. Very pretty cards! I love that Basic Grey paper. As for Card Making Day, I hope to start my Christmas cards. This is some great blog candy. Thanks for the chance to win.

  7. I have been redoing my stamping room trying to make it even more efficient…or maybe because I was having a hard time accomplishing something and I thought this would help. I should have everything in its place by then…(I really tore it apart) I plan on getting back to my long list of people I need to make cards for: my parents’ friends that they haven’t seen in so long since I moved them 120 miles from their home to live near me. This is a 3-way winning situation. It makes ME feel good, the recipient, and my parents when they see what they get to send to their friends. No one loses when I spend my card making time that way.

  8. World Card Making Day-I most definitely need to do something creative! I ordered the new Cuttlebug Halloween embossing folders and I think I need to play with them! Okay, I have a plan and I am sticking to it.

Thanks for the catch to win your blog candy. I love to visit your blog and see your creativity!

  11. Awesome – beautiful cards! I will be spending some special time with my kid-o’s…we may have an “artness” day. (which would include card making.) But normally the first weekend of Oct. we go to an apple orchard / farm for the whole day and then come home and make some goodies.
thanks for a chance to win some blog candy!!

  12. I hope to stamp – especially when you mention that SCS will be having challenges. My son’s birthday party is in the afternoon though so that will eat up a couple of hours. Thanks for the chance to win!! Love your cards – they are super pretty!

  16. I’m planning on spending the day at my scrap table making as many cards as I can. I love Halloween! Love your blog!.

  17. For me, everyday is card making day. It’s a rare occasion that I don’t do SOMETHING craft related. October 4th won’t be any different. I plan to spend at least a few hours on finishing up some UFO waiting for me and then probably onto something new. (it’s not like I don’t have a long list of, “oooh, I really want to try that” projects lined up) I find that most of the time I’m a solitary stamper, mainly because I don’t like luggin’ my stuff around, but I always have my on-line buddies to chat with. *wink, wink*

  18. OOoo, Fun stuff!!!

I am going to be Chattin’ and Craftin’ on SCS with my LOSTies!!! πŸ˜€

  19. Fun!! I am going to my Stamping Up rep’s house for some WCMD stamping fun on the 7th, which leaves me the 4th to stamp away all day!! And I will!!

  31. Lori – Discovered your blog through ordering from Cornish Heritage Farms and check it daily for inspiration. Had an Elvis challenge and CHF was the best!! (yes, I won) I will be attending the International Storytelling Festival in my hometown of Jonesborough, TN – a very small historic town with lots of character – you should bring your family for a visit. Our family enjoys the “Ghost Stories” told on Friday night. Cool breezes, a flannel blanket on the ground and hot apple cider!!! It’s a wonderful family time each year. P.S. would love to win as I am new to stamping!!

  32. I will definitely be crafting something, a card or maybe work on my neglected scrapbooks!

  33. Well, I have planned to get a big jump start on my Christmas cards, but I may be having a party for my soon to be 17 year old….so, we’ll have to see what she decides! The candy looks so yummy! Thanks for the chance!

  34. Just a minor correction to my post above, the festival I refer to is the National Storytelling Festival not International – although many international storytellers attend and perform. If you are interested, the site is http://www.storytellingcenter.net. Sorry!!

  35. I LOVE that scrapblock! For World Card Making Day, I invited the girls from my bible study over to make some cards, which none of them do. We’ve only done this once before, and had a blast. Thanks, Lori!

  36. What fun goodies Lori! What I should be doing on World Card Making Day is getting started on my Christmas cards, but despite the attempts of retailers that already have trees and decorations out, I’m not quite ready for that season yet. πŸ˜‰ Instead, I’m going to make some Thanksgiving invites. My son’s in marching band and they are headed up to Chicago for the Thanksgiving Day parade this year…very exciting. We’re inviting all the family out to join us in going to see it. Looking forward to it!!! Thanks Lori!

  37. On World Card Making Day I am working on my LSS so the owner can go to a training. While I’m there we’re hosting a swap and little crop for some regulars.

We have been meeting for 4 years now and besides creating personal card projects, we also work on group projects making cards for senior citizen groups, care homes, Alzheimer’s Support Group (caretakers), and hospital patients. We pool together our supplies and are quite proud of what we are contributing to the public. We feel good that we can bring a little bit of happiness into someone else’s life.

  62. I will be going to a “new recipe” night at my friends house. Everyone makes something new and sends the recipe in advance to the hostess who laminates them and gives everyone a mini cookbook at the event. Everyone takes home a sampling of all the new recipes or can leave it for the next day which is “craft day”. 85. The timing of the day is perfect because of the number of cards I need to make — many, many upcoming birthdays, anniversaries, pastor appreciation — so I plan to do some assembly-line cards using the same sketches rather than one-of-a-kinds. Thanks to you and Divine Design I’ve gotten behind in my cards lately because I’ve been working on some scripture display albums for Christmas gifts πŸ˜‰ Gotta blame my lameness on something or someone, right? Love your style and I always find things to emulate from your work.
