May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. ~ Galatians 6:14

My submission for Beate’s sketch this weekend is in celebration of Holy Week and Easter Sunday. Here are some bold colors and Kim Hughes images to bring about joy and cheer! This was a fun sketch, and I know that Beate, CambriaCharmaine, Jenn, LaurieMary Jo and Sharon will have fun things in store, too!  Full supply list is at the bottom of my post. In celebration of my favorite holiday week of the year, I’m including a short reflection in this post.

Today (Friday 3/21/08) is Good Friday, the day remembered as the day that Christ suffered and died on the cross.  But Scripture tells us that he most certainly is not dead. In 3 days, on Easter morning we celebrate that He has risen from the dead and is alive! Earlier this week, I was studying a lesson on John 3:16 as it relates to Easter and I had one of those personal ah-ha! moments.  John 3:16 is generally noted as one of the most well-known verses in the Bible. The lesson was discussing the meaning of the first word of the verse: FOR.  In this case, translated as “this is how much” – so that the verse would read:

This is how much God so loved the world, that He gave his only Son so that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. ~ John 3:16

I admit that I have hoarding issues when it comes to paper-crafting supplies. Unless I buy embellishments or papers in duplicates, I am very hesitant to actually use them. I feel if I use something I really like, I won’t be able to replace it when I run out.  Here’s the fresh wind: God only had ONE Son. I’m so grateful that He had no hoarding issues when it came to giving up his ONLY Son to die on the cross, aren’t you!? Note: I am not equating my craft supplies and God’s gift of eternal life. It was just a correlation that struck me fresh. And, since I shared my ‘revelation’ in our adult Sunday school class, I have now acknowledge said ‘hoarding issues’ in front of Wes. Guess I’ll start digging through and using all that stuff I’ve been saving.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend and are able to find joy in the Easter cross and the gift that God gave there, all because He has no hoarding issues.
