WSC 20: For Victoria

Here is my take on Beate’s Sketch for this weekend! I made my card to send out today to Victoria. You can read about her story here, and if you are so inclined, please take action TODAY! There is a timeline to this!

For this week’s challenge, I used a new set from Cornish Heritage Farms called Marieke’s Flowers #1. To enable you, there are 3 sets in the Marieke series – adorable – under $10.00 each! When I want to watercolor fine line images, many times I emboss the image. It helps to hold the watercolor ‘in the lines’.

If you are a regular reader here, you know that I use A LOT of Shimmery White Cardstock….sometimes I want it colored. I could brayer the color on, but sometimes I want soft, watery color. When that is the case, I do a little technique that I call ‘Wash & Dry’. I lightly brush color over the entire surface of the cardstock. I use my aquapainter or a wide watercolor brush. You have to be very careful with the shimmery cardstocks, they don’t take as much water as watercolor paper without the water making spots in the cardstock from getting too wet. After I have lightly brushed the color, I set the color with my heat gun. This helps to avoid the wet spot problem. Here is a close up of what I am talking about:
