Beate’s Sketch: Near & Far

It’s Friday! And, you blog hoppers know what that means….Beate’s Sketch Challenge! You can see it by clicking the link, and I know Beate wants you to play along. Her original sketch is for a square card, but I went the more traditional route to give you a different take.

I used the opportunity to pull out my fresh, new rubber from the SU! Holiday Mini, Holy Triptych. I’m one of those people who refuses to use the traditional ‘letter-mas’ when writing about Christmas. I love the liturgy and music during Advent. And, my Christmas isn’t complete without church services on December 24th. This set is what Christmas is all about for me. So, of course, I adore the words to the Near and Far set, all of the words reflect the true meaning of Christmas, not Santa or elves or candy canes. My favorites include: ‘Near & Far, follow the Star’ and ‘Christmas Blessings’.

I embossed the image with Chocolate Chip Craft Ink and clear embossing powder, then I watercolored using my aquapainter and Classic ink – straight from the pad. I created the layout of the ‘NEAR & FAR’ using a Close to Cocoa marker and my stamp-a-ma-jig. The tag is tied one with Chocolate Taffeta ribbon. (Luscious ribbon!) A little glitter on the star, of course, and this is ready to send.

I think I’ll make a spot right now to save all the Christmas cards I make in the next few months. I’ll be so far ahead when it comes to December that I can really focus on the ‘reason for the season! <wink>

Thanks for looking! Have a wonderful weekend!
